"Lehigh Valley Insulation did a great job for us. The owner called us promptly, responded to an issue we had with no problems. Workers were careful with our property. I definetly feel a difference in temperature in that room. Job well done, would recommend to others"

Small jobs welcome

"I can't say one thing bad about this business: very professional, reasonable price, and they cleaned up that you would not know they were ever here. I will certainly recommend to anyone adding insulation to their house and like us insulating the garage. Excellent job to Hassan and his team."

"Very good. They responded quickly and gave me a quote. They did a great job expediting the work. Their workers were on time and courteous and did a great job. I would recommend them to anyone who needs old insulation replaced with spray foam insulation"

"A price was provided for the cleaning of both units prior to arrival (price maintained after work done and had a coupon from Angie's List which was applied without issue!). An estimate was provided for the pad work at the time of arrival, which we accepted. The technician immediately contacted another technician to come and help him (unit and pad too heavy for one individual). Second technician came very promptly. All work was done within 2 hours and done very well. We were extremely pleased with the promptness of the technicians arrival, their professionalistm and their work quality. Definitely would use them again!

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Drywall can be toxic to the environment and to humans in some cases. As drywall breaks down in a landfill and comes in contact with other organic chemicals, it can create hydrogen sulfide gas or leach into the groundwater. Additionally, the CDC recommends methods for controlling the inhalation of drywall dust when handled. While the common ingredients of drywall—gypsum, silica, and mica—are naturally occurring, they can cause irritation in some humans.

Whether you apply the drywall mesh before or after drywall mud depends on the type of patch it is. For self-adhesive patches, you’ll put the patch down first and then coat it with mud. Mesh patches that are not self-adhesive will require you to put mud down first and then press the mesh into it, followed by additional coats of mud.

If your premixed drywall mud is dried out or has begun to set in the bucket, you may be able to revive it by adding warm water and stirring. However, the first and most important step is to scrape off any hard, dried bits of drywall that may have accumulated toward the top of the container and throw them away because they will not easily reconstitute back into the drywall mud mix.

There are some instances when you can use extra drywall in your garden. Ideally, unused scraps of new drywall are best for amending soil without the concern of additional chemicals or mold. However, drywall with paint, mold, or potential asbestos requires specialized disposal by a professional and should be kept out of your garden.

If you only have tiny holes in your drywall (for example, dents or nail marks), you probably won’t need a patch kit. Instead, you can plug the hole with a small amount of spackle. Once the spackle dries, you can sand the area and paint over it—just like you would in the steps outlined above.
