We became overly concerned around October 2011 (2 months before the projected completion date) when the house was less than half complete and Jim was not returning our calls. When he finally did contact us, he assured us the house would be completed and he used excuses such as the weather and health problems from his framer as to the delays in the project. Over the next few months minor work was done with weeks of inactivity. Brought to our attention about this time, were properties in his name listed under sheriff sales. Contact with Jim continued to be very difficult and when it was made he denied any financial problems and promised "things will really start to pick up". By the end of September 2012, and the house still not wrapped, we informed Jim we would hire another company to finish the house. The new company came in immediately and found major problems with the work Jim did. A few of the big problems found were: insulation and dry wall were exposed to the elements because the house was not weatherproofed, the electrical wiring was run to an area the electric company did not approve causing us to rewire the electric to an approved area, dry wall was hung before the plumbing inspection was passed which caused us to take down the dry wall, 3 tubs were not connected into the main sewer lines. We also found out many subcontractors were not paid for services they rendered and materials they supplied although money was allocated for them. For the financial difficulties and emotional distress Jim Seitz caused us, I can only advise others to avoid him at all costs. He may have been a reputable businessman at one time but he somehow got himself in financial problems that destroyed his reputation and will probably keep him out of the home building business for a long time.
Description of Work: Signed a contract with Jim Seitz to build a multi-level, single family home on a lot which we already owned. The house was to be started in May 2011 with a completion date of December 2011.

He?s very friendly and personable and promises the world, but never comes through on the follow up repairs and adjustments on a new house. I would absolutely not hire him again.
Description of Work: We bought a house from him. He was very lax and uncooperative doing the follow up punch list at the end. He kept promising for two or three years that he would come fix things and he never did. We spoke to his wife in the last two years about the same problems and she promised he would come fix them and he never did.
