"This company was a great to work with. Very professional and quick! They were able to complete my entire basement project: installing a french drain, sump pump, and rough casting on the walls in just one day. They brought in a large team to ensure the project was done correctly and efficiently. They also made sure to use drop cloths and plastic around the house to keep dust off of my furniture. This was very appreciated. The salesmen were great to work with and have the credentials/experience to back it up. Would definitely hire again!"

"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"Alex had done some major work on the house before I listed it, so I had no problem calling him about this project.  As usual, Alex came through in the clutch and found a licensed plumber to do the work, on time and up to code.  Alex has been my go-to guy twice in the last 6 months, and he got the job done on time and at the quoted price.  Although I live 1,000 miles away, he was great at keeping me up-to-date with phone calls and e-mails.    He is an A+ contractor that I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who asks."

"Dan and his son Tyler once more did a great job. We have an open floorplan in our house, but this made some of the space in the front room (which we use as a library/office) less functional. Dan extended an 8 inch bump-out near the front door to a 5'8'' wall which now delineates the office space from the hall way. Next to the kitchen they put a pony wall extending to the pillar near the living space. This half wall is topped by a thick piece of roughly cut wood which works great as a display area for my plants. Dan matched all of the baseboards on the new walls with the current trim. We needed more paint to match the current color scheme of the living space and Dan managed to match the paint color exactly so you can't tell where the new walls start or where the old ones ended. Great job! Last but not least both Dan and Tyler brought a pair of chairs back upstairs, which last year they put in the basement for us after they had completed our basement remodel. We now have a functional office and a great space for reading and relaxing. Next year we plan on having them do the master bathroom."

"Lee Dickerson installed a new addition to our 12 yr. old home. It is a sunroom, but also an extension of our family room. We were very pleased with the work performed by Lee Dickerson & Sons. The job went smoothly from our first meeting to completion. Lee Dickerson has tons of experience in his field and was especially helpful with ideas that we hadn't thought of. His crew did an amazing job of keeping the job site clean each day. We were completely satisfied with this company and I would highly recommend them."

House Leveling questions, answered by experts

Trenching and boring are two distinct methods for installing underground utilities. Trenching involves digging a channel using equipment like an excavator, trencher, backhoe, or shovel. While it is a simpler process, it causes significant disruption to the surface, landscaping, and surrounding ecosystems.

Boring, also known as directional boring, is a less invasive alternative that uses a drill to create a tunnel for utility lines without disturbing the surface. This method is more precise and is ideal for installations that need to go underneath buildings, roads, or bodies of water. Although boring is less disruptive, it is generally more expensive than trenching.

There is no real alternative to underpinning, although mudjacking and polyjacking are other repair methods that can add support from underneath your foundation. Rather than placing supportive piers under your structure, these involve pumping a material under your slab to lift a sunken section back into its original position. Polyjacking, in particular, is sometimes a suitable solution for stabilization issues under slab foundations, but underpinning is often accepted as the best and most permanent solution.

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.

Mudjacking can be an expensive foundation repair process, but in many cases, it’s well worth the investment. This is especially true if you’re lifting a portion of sunken foundation slab back into place. In that case, mudjacking can help avoid major structural damage and even home collapse by restoring the integrity of your structure with minimally invasive procedures. Mudjacking a concrete patio, walkway, or sidewalk can be worthwhile because it removes tripping hazards and makes your outdoor area more aesthetically appealing.

It restores concrete, prevents replacement cost disruptions, reduces trip hazards, and provides stability at a lower cost.
