"Bob Trott of Robert Christophers Stone & Masonry is among the most professional, pleasant, reliable, responsible, reasonably priced, & talented home improvement contractors we've worked with over the past 35 years. We hired Bob for multiple exterior home improvement masonry projects, including replacing a sunken concrete front porch & walkway, repairing and replacing stucco to remove bulges, installing kick-out flashing where needed in various locations, and sealing/resealing all exterior joints and penetrations around our home. In all instances, Bob did high quality work. I would definitely use him again and highly recommend him to others."

"It was a pleasure dealing with Mike and his crew.  Originally I had called him just for the buckled stucco, and caulking windows.  This was last December and the weather precluded work until spring.  He worked with me on the timing as I had to remove steps on the deck to access the stucco.  He came exactly as scheduled.  Because we expanded the scope of the job, he kept his men on for 2 additional days (including a Sunday!) until everything was done to my satisfaction.  A few days later, I saw an area of stucco that had not been repaired, called Mike and he told me it would be handled expeditiously.  I have complete confidence that it will.
I am extremely pleased with the work, including the professionalism of his crew. HIs price was fair and he was a pleasure to deal with.  I would (and have) recommended him to neighbors."

"John is a very meticulous, hard working man. He made sure everything he did was to my satisfaction. He always cleaned up after each days work. He was able to repair the stucco, replace rotted trim, power wash the old paint off and paint the entire exterior. It was a great experience."

"The workers were efficient, friendly, considerate and responsive to my needs even going added distances to be sure I was happy with the work. I had repair and some replacement of the stucco. Then it was painted in a color of my choice."

Stucco questions, answered by experts

Stucco applied over brick can last 30 to 50 years or more when correctly applied and properly maintained. Stucco’s lifespan can be shortened by improper application, incorrectly mixed material, lack of preparation before application, and lack of maintenance. To get the most life out of your stucco siding, keep up with maintenance and repair any damage as soon as you discover it.

The Mediterranean style is unique in that it’s designed for homes in hotter climates and to maintain a connection with nature. The building materials include stucco siding, clay roofs, and interior tiling with tall ceilings and open floor plans. These all come together to keep the interior cool. The building materials are all natural and tend to have muted earth tones, and the architecture typically allows for easy, open access to the outdoors through large windows and arched doorways. The decor and architecture can range from simple and functional to opulent, depending on the type of Mediterranean home it is.

Masonry screws are the best option to be used on stucco. They’re thicker and made to penetrate harder surfaces like concrete and cinder blocks. Fluted masonry screws work the best because they create a stronger grasp thanks to the lines on their shafts. If you’re working on exterior stucco, use galvanized screws to prevent corrosion.

One of the most significant downsides to stucco is the installation cost, which is higher than that of many other siding options because getting it to look clean and professional is a labor-intensive process. Stucco can also absorb water, making it an unsuitable option for siding in areas that see excessive rainfall. Finally, stucco can crack and chip, especially in extreme weather, and repairs are not only challenging and require help from a professional who does stucco, but can get expensive.

Solid, unpainted stucco shouldn’t suffer damage from dots of glue used for this task. If the stucco is dirty, you may notice slight marks when you heat and peel the glue away, but these aren’t permanent.

However, not all stucco walls are solid stucco. Some are “faux” stucco with a foam backing. This kind of stucco veneer is more susceptible to damage, including damage from hot glue. We don’t suggest attaching anything to these kinds of stucco walls, so make sure you check the stucco type before starting this project.
