His quote was $950 lower than the top estimate. I also opted to have him prime paint the whole project, which looked great and saved me a lot of time priming. "Work was done on duplex I purchased that needed remodeled to get into good rental condition. Original time frame for work was not met, work was done 4-6 weeks after goal time frame. Outside factors contributed to delays and not just the contractor. Original bid was just for labor only, asked for bid including materials. Contractor estimated materials and ended up being off by $3k-$4k. Not a huge issue. Noticed different workers there and appeared as if employee turnover and stability was a problem. Owner Scott, was very nice and easy to communicate with. I liked working with him. Would have preferred to pay funds to business and not to owner's personal name which he requested. Agreed to do so. Contractor was adamant about draws and could not float work or labor for more than a week or two. Quality of finishing work was satisfactory initially. In the 1-2 months following the rehab, I had to have another contractor correct many items. Following the main job, the items that needed corrected were, not properly sealed glass block windows, wrong type of grout used in kitchen floors, dishwasher not installed and sealed correctly, minor electric issues, new toilet installed leaked and caused damage to ceiling below, wooden deck was not correctly secured and/or repaired. A few blemishes in finishing work needed corrected. I had a single contractor who could handle those items himself and preferred to use him rather than having the contractor come back. I needed a contracting company with multiple employees to do the project though and selected SAW Contracting after getting quotes and talking to 2 other companies. Scott beat both in price, was based locally, and made a good first impression so he was hired. I feel he probably underbid and the additional fees paid to correct some of the work and the overages on materials, still were roughly even with higher bids I received. I asked for rental quality work, so I can not accurately recommend him for good residential quality. OVerall I'd consider using Scott again, but would have a more detailed contact and agreement with him, with time restrictions, detailed material and labor figures included. I've done multiple rehab and residential projects and it is not easy to find a good contractor at a good price who works quickly on bigger projects. I've used others and had similar experiences. As long as the right expectations are there, Scott could be a good fit in the right project."

"Dan and his crew are amazing! I cannot say enough about how professional, courteous and talented they all are: I am so happy with the high quality workmanship and unbelievably good prices. Dan has great ideas and is very creative, and his prices are AMAZING!
I am a very particular kind of person  when it comes to my home, I admit that I'm a perfectionist, and a bit controlling, and I don't like cookie-cutter work, everything has to be just right, and look really unique. Also, I keep changing the scope of the project and adding things...Dan and his team take everything in their stride, listen to me, nothing seems to be a problem with them and they always happily and quickly accommodate my requests (for example, after one of the closets was built (and finished to perfection),  I wanted it moved 10 inches) -- they were completely OK with it, not a problem, they listened to me and very cheerfully undid their finished work and re-did the closet - truly their goal was to make me happy).
Dan's team work incredibly hard,  I am amazed at how fast these guys work and yet still have incredible attention to detail and high quality workmanship (a lot of this work has been billed time and materials to me, so it's important to me to see them all working hard and really fast yet carefully)
Their finish work is amazing -- everything matches the old original plastered walls, paint, gorgeous old trim, the remodel fits in seamlessly - and they don't cut corners, even the interior of the closets was finished to standards higher than I've seen in many homes - absolute perfection. They are true craftsmen that take pride in their work.
The work involved a lot of demolition of old plaster and lathe walls, typically this can be a real mess, but Dan's crew were very careful, as they worked they were constantly cleaning and bagging debris, the work areas were kept really tidy and clean, and at the end of the day it was pretty spotless --  I was amazed at how well they cleaned up all the dust. Also, they were very careful not to damage surrounding areas -- they protected existing walls, our stairs, doorways etc. so as to not track dirt in and out, everything was covered.
Dan's work crew went above and beyond -- while they were working I was also moving into the house, and they even helped move some boxes and furniture that needed moving when I got a refrigerator delivered!
I honestly have yet to meet such a  helpful, courteous, talented and professional construction team (and I have had a lot of past experience with high quality contractors working on previous home)
Also, Dan is amazing at keeping in touch, I often had questions and suggestions as the work progressed and he was always available and responsive.
I'm looking forward to my next reno. project, and I will definitely use them again - I am recommending them to all my friends!"
