"Mr Mikaeel immediately contacted me once I put in a request on Home Advisor. He explained his services and he offered me more options than I had received from other engineers. Those options included paying less money which I appreciated right away. He knew I didn't have much time to work with and we scheduled the next day. He arrived on time, was very personable, very professional, explained what I needed to know and also gave me great news. I will recommend him to anyone that needs a structural engineer Thank you Home Advisor!"

"Dee finished the drawings in a timely manner. He made revisions to fine tune and included an optional alternate floor plan I requested for a very reasonable up charge. I’m sure I’ll be using Dee again in the future."

"I had a great experience working with Glenwood Engineering LLC. I was in the process of selling my home and the buyer's mortgage company was requiring a structural engineer to certify the home was structurally sound as the joists in the basement had some previous termite damage. An engineer was able to come out in less than a week and although the initial report indicated some repairs that would be necessary everything needed was clearly stated. I was able to get a contractor to come do the repairs and Glenwood Engineering LLC was able to send the engineer out for a reinspection only two days after the repairs were complete. The customer service was outstanding and thanks to how quickly they were able to send an engineer out both for inspection and for reinspection we were able to close on time. I would definitely use their services again."

"Working with Jeff was so easy. He was very detailed oriented. He offered suggestions that we didnâ t think of and even helped us get the best layout for our budget. Iâ ve used him to help redesign my kitchen for my first house, had him come to my fiancéâ s house for an addition design and now my second house to redesign this kitchen. Very efficient and affordable as well. I Wouldnâ t use anyone else!"

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

In Lehigh Valley, recurring diagonal cracks, bulging basement walls, or doors that stick after repairs often signal unresolved structural issues. If you notice efflorescence (white mineral deposits) on masonry or uneven settling in floors, it may indicate improper foundation work. Lack of structural inspection reports or visible patchwork repairs are also warning signs that a more thorough evaluation is needed.

Helpful?

In Lehigh Valley, coordinating structural engineering with upgrades like basement waterproofing, insulation, or electrical panel updates can streamline your project. For homes with stone foundations or older framing, aligning repairs with energy efficiency improvements is especially beneficial. Planning multiple upgrades together can reduce disruption, simplify permit processes, and help ensure all work meets local building codes and seasonal weather considerations.

Helpful?

In Lehigh Valley, document any wall or ceiling cracks by photographing and noting their size and location, especially near windows or doors. Use a carpenter’s square to check for shifting corners and look for gaps in stone or brickwork, which are common in older homes here. Avoid moving support columns or beams. Keeping crawl spaces dry and well-ventilated also helps prevent further settling until a structural inspection is completed.

Helpful?

Annual maintenance in Lehigh Valley should include a structural inspection of your foundation, especially after heavy snow or rain. Check for shifting in stone or brick, and ensure sump pumps and vapor barriers are functioning in basements. Regularly clear downspouts and maintain proper grading to direct water away from your home, which is essential for preventing settling and moisture intrusion common in this region.

Helpful?

In Lehigh Valley, stone foundations, basement walls, and crawl spaces are especially vulnerable to shifting due to clay soils and freeze-thaw cycles. Main support beams, sill plates, and roof trusses in older homes often require attention, particularly after severe weather. Regularly inspect for bowing walls, moisture in basements, and sagging floors to catch structural problems early and protect your home’s stability.
