"Spectacular!!!! I shopped around a few companies to purchase and install zone heating and cooling in my house. Rinker was hands down the best. From the initial consult, to the install, and even follow up questions almost a year later, everyone is attentive, polite, and professional. While they are slightly, and I mean slightly, more expensive than some competitors, the cost difference is more than justified by the quality of the product and the service. Not to mention, switching from electric baseboard heat all over my house to 1 Mitsubishi unit on each floor (2 total) has saved me so much money!!! An actual electric bill last year hit $900 for 1 month. The same month this year with the new set up was only $176!!! The monthly savings, plus the various tax credits and rebates are more than justifying the switch. Stop looking, call Rinker today before you get hit with another ridiculous heating bill this winter!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s safe to strip a wire if you follow the proper safety precautions. First and foremost, you must always disconnect the power and never try stripping a live wire. Using wire strippers is another safety precaution, but don’t forget to keep your fingers away from the blade. It’s also critical you only remove the insulation and not accidentally cut into the conductor, which is unlikely as long as you’re using the right-sized wire stripper.

Yes, the National Electric Code (NEC) requires at least one GFCI outlet in each sectioned-off portion of an unfinished basement, partly to ensure a power source is available for a sump pump in case of flooding. If you install multiple outlets in your unfinished basement, all of them must be GFCI-protected. For finished basements, standard outlets are generally permitted, but at least one GFCI outlet is still required per circuit. Keep in mind that local municipalities may have additional codes, so it's best to consult a licensed electrician to ensure your home is fully compliant.

Yes, it's possible to have electrical receptacles and overhead lights on the same circuit. The reason is that lights typically use much less power than large appliances, so combining them won't overload your circuit. By doing this, you can distribute the power consumption throughout the breakers in your panel more efficiently, which can be helpful if you have a lot of different electrical devices in your home.

Many ceiling fan-rated electrical boxes tend to be made of metal. However, some electrical boxes may also be made of heavy-duty plastic that is reinforced with metal support structures. It may also have an attachment that connects directly to a ceiling joist. If you are ever ensure, consult with a licensed professional to get their insight on best practices and whether the installation is a safe one.

An electrician can handle wiring issues with the garage door opener, like faulty connections, circuit problems, or sensor malfunctions, but they’re not the right person to hire for mechanical repairs. Garage door specialists handle things like broken springs, tracks, and panels, while electricians step in if there’s an issue with power supply, motor function, or safety sensors that aren’t responding correctly.
