"Kathy and her team did a wonderful job on my home. She was able to advise on different colors and types of paint to be used. There were many holes in the wall and areas that needed to be repaired before the painting. They did a wonderful job and I'm very pleased with the result. They were flexible with me in terms of timing and cleaned up thoroughly after the job was done. I would definitely use them again and was very pleased with the final result."

"I obtained 3 quotes for painting in my house which included removing old wallpaper in one room before painting and included included a bedroom, bath and hallway. Affordable Weaver is truly affordable. Their cost estimate was 40% less than the other 2 quotes. The team of 4 arrived promptly at 7:30 am and finished the job in 1 day. Very neat and clean with no paint drippings on my wood baseboards or floor. The owners are a pleasure to deal with and the painting crew took time to understand what color paint I needed in each room. Highly recommend!"

"Drew and his team were excellent from day 1 through to the last day on the project. They painted the entire interior of the house. That included 3 bedrooms, office, kitchen, dining room, living room, 2 stairways and 3 bathrooms. They wallpapered one bathroom and papered an accent wall in the master bath, PLUS they painted vanities and mirror trims in 2 bathrooms. The house looks amazing and at a very reasonable price. With this much work being done it sure makes a difference to have such skilled, reliable, nice people. Frankly I was blown away by all they did including moving furniture, patching and filling gaps and cracks and covering everything to keep dust off of things. Impressive work at a great price and super nice people."

"Nilton came in and provided a fair price quote. We supplied the paint and he and a helper came in on time and completed the job over 2 days; 13 hours total. The job involved sanding down the trim and bookcases and patching up the walls. The work done was excellent and we are very pleased with the results. This is our second time hiring Nilton to paint. We will likely hire Nilton again to work on our kitchen cabinets."

"I was given Larry’s name by a family friend to quote re-doing my living room and bedroom ceiling. Larry was quick to get back to my phone call as well as begin the work. His quote was fair, better than two others I had received! Larry worked quickly and did an amazing job. He kept me informed throughout the entire job and was so easy to talk to. After meeting him, I trusted him to be in my home alone, using a lock box, which allowed for him to come on his schedule without me having to be there. Larry did a wonderful job, going above and beyond to touch up some imperfections on my walls as well. I would 100% recommend Larry to anyone looking for drywall/Sheetrock work done! Thanks again Larry!"

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

While many types of peel-and-stick wallpaper can be used in bathrooms, they may not adhere as well in humid environments as traditional wallpaper. For best results, choose a vinyl or polyester-based wallpaper, as these materials are more durable and water-resistant. Good ventilation is also crucial to reduce humidity from steamy showers. In bathrooms with high moisture and inadequate ventilation, even high-quality peel-and-stick wallpaper is likely to peel over time.

Yes, you can put wallpaper in a bathroom, but whether it's a good idea depends on several factors. Because bathrooms are high-humidity areas, it's crucial to choose a water-resistant wallpaper, such as one made of vinyl. Proper wall preparation is also critical to ensure the paper adheres well, even after many steamy showers. The wallpaper's placement also affects its longevity; it will hold up better on an accent wall or away from direct water contact, rather than immediately next to a shower. A well-ventilated bathroom will yield the best results.

If you can already see the texture of the existing wallpaper through the layer of paint, then the texture could also come through the new layer of wallpaper. If that’s the aesthetic you want, then proceed. But if you want a smoother surface, you should either strip off the existing paint and wallpaper or hang a layer of liner paper before proceeding.

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.

Having dated, peeling, or otherwise damaged wallpaper can decrease the value of your property, so removing that before listing your house is nearly always a good idea; however, since wallpaper tends to be a personal style choice, potential buyers may or may not love your aesthetic as much as you do.

Love the look of wallpaper but want to consider property value as well? Stick with something that is easy to change. If you are thinking of selling soon, make sure your wallpaper hanging is on-point and looks professional with no crooked seams, evenly matched patterns, and minimal bubbling or other imperfections.
