I have been in then concrete business for 7 years since a teen and my father who’s my employee has been in the concrete business for 23 years working for a big concrete company. Me and my father knew it was time for us to start our own gig when customers started liking our work working alone and were always impress at our work weather it was small or big. Gray Construction was established in February of 1988. The company was started with only a vision and a few hand tools. One of those tools was an old sledgehammer that was passed down by my great grandfather. He used that sledgehammer to drive railroad spikes into wooden sleepers during railroad construction. And in our humble beginnings we used that same sledgehammer to break up concrete. Today we use jack hammers with pneumatic concrete breakers on the machines. We have come a long way. "My wife and I just had Oakland give us a quote, plan and then install, pour, a 8.5 cubic yard patio after removing the trex deck that it was time to retire around our inground pool. After removal of the deck it was discovered that there was electrical work that needed to be rerun to our pool pump house and a Jacuzzi we were replacing. This they had no problem incorporating into the job without batting an eye. Communication was good. And from the plan, to scheduling, to actually accomplishing the task, considering the bad weather we were having, everything was done professionally, and on time in spite of whatever obstacles were thrown in the way. The crew was professional and courteous, and went out of their way to protect all that was necessary around what they were doing. They went out of their way to meticulously clean up the job and ensure everything was to our complete satisfaction before calling it done. All was done in a timely manner in spite of the atrocious weather they had to work around and through in getting it finished.
