They carried every brick to a tarp and took the old chimney away without a trace. I’m still amazed at the clean up they did . "I called for a free estimate, Justin came promtly and inspected the chimey. He showed me pictures of the problems and spelled out all the options. I explained to him that my cellar has floode due the problems and was anxious to get the repairs done. Justin quoted a price that was fair and much lower then any other estimates. To my surprise he said that he could do the job that day. He kept sending me pictures as the work progressed so I knew exactlywhat he was doing. No, a hot fire won’t burn off creosote that’s already built up. While the warmth of a fire can loosen caked-on creosote, you run the risk of causing a chimney fire. The best way to clean off old creosote is to have your chimney cleaned by a professional chimney sweep.

If you would rather use vinegar to clean the stone fireplace instead of dish soap, this mixture should work fine.
