"Wonderful! I will only use J and J tree service for my yard. This is the second big job they have completed for us and not only do they do an excellent job, but Richard is knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to fix other landscaping issues I have without me even asking! I highly recommend and will use over and over!"

Small jobs welcome

"Joel Miller responded to our request to remove 2 large trees and brush (leaving the wood), and grind 3 large stumps. His estimate was HALF of the quotes provided by others! Joel's performance was AMAZING!!! He worked alone on our project and never stopped until everything was done. He is a one-man professional who did it all and appeared tireless! He worked in 98+ degree heat and 100% humidity, he climbed, cut, dropped each tree with accuracy and impressive "ease". He even removed and raked up the sawdust in the yard, leaving it ready for grass seed, and cut the remaining wood to 18" lengths, thereby helping our son as he was taking the wood for firewood. Joel simply did a highly professional and stunning job. This young man is deserving of YOUR business. He is beginning his own company and will work just as tirelessly for you. If you are looking for reasonable pricing, a hard worker, and a top-notch professional, use Joel Miller. He also does other landscape jobs and I'm sure he does those just as professionally."

"Austin was friendly and professional. He and his coworker worked well together and finished the job quickly. Our half stone and half siding house in the woods looks great! The surface areas look fantastic, too! We would hire this company again, for sure."

"I hired John and I cannot recommend him enough! Great estimate, timely, and did above and beyond what was expected. His team was respectful a d his price was very fair. I recommend him to anyone to has a tree or exterior lawn job. John removed a substantial Large Maple tree that was covering half of my homes roof, and ground the stump. He took out 2 overgrown 20â arborvitaes, 2 large pine trees and 30-40 year old shrubs. I was very impressed with the results, thank you John."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

As a general rule, the protected area should be about 1½ times as wide as the canopy of the tree’s leaves. This digging measurement can vary by tree species and the age of the tree. Of course, that can be a lot of fencing for larger trees, which is why our first step is about making difficult decisions on which trees to save.

According to scientists at Penn State University, spotted lanternflies do not typically kill the trees and plants they feed on, but they can cause branches and segments to die off. However, they have been found to kill cultivated grapes, which can have devastating consequences for vineyard owners and regions that heavily rely on vineyards to create jobs and generate revenue. They have also killed the Ailanthu altissima, known as the tree of heaven, though this is classified as a noxious and invasive weed tree.

If executed correctly your tree should survive after being transplanted to a new spot. However, effective transplanting requires six months, careful root pruning, safe transport to the new location, and replanting in prime soil conditions. You’ll also need an appropriately sized root ball for a complete tree transplant. A good rule of thumb is that, for every inch in diameter, your tree’s root ball needs to be around 11 inches. So a tree with a diameter of six inches needs a root ball of approximately 66 inches.

Whether you grind or dig up and remove your tree stump depends on your landscaping goals. Using a stump grinder leaves the root system in place for it to decompose over time, whereas digging up the tree stump removes the roots and the stump. Overall, stump grinding is a far simpler process since you won’t need to deal with the roots. Stump removal will make your yard look like a demolition site, but you’ll have an easier time replanting in the same place as your former tree.

Although the terms tree trimming and tree pruning are used interchangeably, they are very different types of tree maintenance. Tree trimming involves enhancing the appearance of your tree by removing unruly branches, providing your tree with ample sunlight and nutrients and prevents unsightly overgrowth.

Tree pruning helps keep your trees disease-free. This process removes unhealthy growths, dead branches, and other unhealthy parts of the tree. It’s more common for deciduous and ornamental trees but not so common for evergreen trees. To determine which method you need, discuss it with a tree trimming specialist.
