"Bruce completed several small projects around our house. He removed old light fixtures and then installed new ones in 2 bathrooms. Had to recenter and add a new electrical box before putting up one set of lights. Also patched dry wall and then painted walls before hanging mirrors that we had previously purchased. In addition he flash patched 2 seams in one of the bathrooms. He then caulked top of both vanity backsplashes. Lastly, he repaired area around fireplace with mesh tape."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Available customizations include color choices, textures, gate additions, and decorative toppers to fit various design preferences.

The best wood for a farm fence is pressure-treated wood that will stand up to various weather conditions, animal contact, and moisture. Farm fences need to resist rot and damage, so choose a species such as cedar or redwood. The natural oils in these woods give them decay resistance, which also makes them ideal for other fence types, such as a wooden snow fence.

A fence installer or homeowner should place a snow fence upwind of the desired drift area, while keeping the prevailing wind direction in mind. When installing a snow fence, its posts should be sturdy, as they will be the weakest areas in terms of tensile strength. Posts should be buried at one-third their height and placed no more than eight feet apart.

Typically, a fence requires one to two coats of stain. The exact number can vary depending on the porosity of the wood. For specific guidance, it's best to check the manufacturer's instructions. After applying the first coat and letting it dry completely, you can assess the finish. If it appears patchy, uneven, or you want a more saturated color, a second coat is recommended. An extra coat can also help cover lap marks.

DIY is feasible with the proper tools and manual labor, though experienced installers ensure durability and precise alignment.
