Customers say: True professional

"In the process of getting quotes for a large car port that we wanted to install at our house, I received three responses via Home Advisor. After requesting proposals from HA Eric Mangone scheduled a visit for the following day. The other two contractors scheduled much later. They visited the site but I never heard back from them. Eric, on the other hand, reviewed the drawings with me and provided a quote within two days. Having been involved with projects such as these in the past I knew that the quote was reasonable. The shell of the car port was an architectural special design that Eric and his crew installed perfectly. I requested 2x6 tounge and groove finished ceiling, which is a special order item that Eric coordinated with the supplier to procure for us. The final product is great. My wife and I are very happy with the finished product and the experience working with Eric. By the way, Mangone Contracting is a family business with Eric and his two sons, as well as other workers as needed."

"I donâ  t know where to begin to say how satisfied I am with A & J Contracting! I needed my basement renovated ASAP and Mr. Anthony met with me in a timely manner explaining in great detail the work he would perform and how pleased I would be! Let me tell you he did NOT disappoint because he and his partner Mark performed what I call a â  miracleâ  in renovating my basement and went above and beyond my expectations!!!! Iâ  ve shown many the before and after pictures of what I now can call my family room and the response each time was how â  beautifulâ  of a job Anthony did!! If you are in need a great contractor donâ  t look anywhere else but A & J Contractor and call Anthony NOW! My family still canâ  t believe what A & J Contractor did with that old and in bad shape basement!! Very professional and the many years of experience really was on display!! Thank you again Anthony and Mark for restoring our basement!! Iâ  ll definitely be utilizing them in the future and wonâ  t have to look elsewhere!!"

Warranties offered

"Not enough can be said about the integrity, ethic, and dedication of Leo and his crew. To make a long story short. Talk is cheap and few people actually live up to the hype. We had 6 people come look at the roof before meeting Leo. Five ran away without even a quote. So when Leo said I'll use commercial grade materials with a lifetime ownership warranty, and have it done in three days. In my head I laughed. He did everything he promised, in the time frame he promised and threw in a few extras. If your looking for quality construction at an affordable price. Choose Wolfe's General contracting."

Storm Shelters questions, answered by experts

Yes, if you’ve got the skills and patience, you can build your own outdoor kitchen. Outdoor kitchen kits are available in various levels of completion. You can build your own outdoor kitchen simply by matching your DIY skill level with an appropriate kitchen kit, or if you’re already a pro, you can create a complete custom design from your imagination.

Whether a prefab home is worth it or not will depend on your personal needs and preferences. Overall, prefab homes tend to cost less than traditional homes, although they also tend to have lower resale values. Another thing to consider is that prefab homes usually last 50 to 60 years or longer, while traditional homes last 50 to 100 years or more.

Prefab kits like a small sunroom for around $20,000 or even a basic gazebo roof for as little as $60 can save you big over professional installation. However, you lose the option for customization, and these structures tend not to last nearly as long. As for bigger projects like a deck or patio, you shouldn’t go with the DIY route unless you’re fully prepped with the tools and know-how to get it done right. Mistakes can be frustrating and costly, so choose a pro if you’re looking to eliminate your risk of error.

If you’re building a pole barn in place of a traditional home, lenders usually don’t offer traditional mortgages for these structures. You can also expect higher insulation costs and building permits may not be allowed in your area. Even if you’re just using a pole barn as storage or as a shelter for animals, these structures are less durable than steel buildings and require more maintenance.

Common pitfalls include underestimating the cost of site preparation, overlooking permit and utility fees, and not setting aside funds for unexpected changes. Change orders during construction can disrupt your budget. It’s best to plan a detailed budget, obtain multiple quotes, and include a 10% to 15% contingency fund for unexpected expenses.
