"Rick is methodical in diagnosing roofing problems and identifying solutions, not just pushing for a total replacement (although he can certainly do that too!). It is evident that he cares about his work and its significance to his clients. Property owners who are looking for a true partner for their roofing needs will find that in Roofs R Us."

"They were the lowest bidder, but bid the job based on my description and pictures without actually seeing the roof (it s like many others in the area). It took a while to finally get on the schedule due to rain pushing back other jobs, which is understandable. The work took about 90 minutes for 2 people, replaced flashing and several slates. They said the roof was in bad shape, which didn t give me a good feeling that the leak was fixed, and would provide an estimate for a new roof - after putting on the new flashing. I guess I feel like if they had seen the roof before the bid, we might have had a different job. Still waiting for a substantial rain to see if leak has stopped. I ll update if I m able."

"I’m a mechanical engineer, and I chose Perfect Roof for my home roof replacement. My wife and I interviewed four other roofing companies before selecting Perfect Roof, and we had a great experience. Carlo from Perfect Roof provided a confident and pragmatic overview of the entire process including company history, safety, materials, people, processes, and warranty. As an engineer, I wanted to select the best materials and processes, and Perfect Roof uses a system of CertainTeed materials that are all designed to work together for an engineered solution. We verified the specified materials met quality standards, and were recognized by national specifications and tests for wind, tear, pull through, and granule adhesion. Using materials that meet such accepted standards, correlates with extended roof life when installed correctly. In addition to the quality of materials, the CertainTeed brand is a division of Saint Gobain which is well known in the engineering world for producing high quality materials used in high reliability products. When the actual materials arrived at the jobsite, everything was exactly as specified and designed to work together as a system. The crews arrived for work each day and were respectful of our property and privacy. Safe roof access was established, and the crew used ropes and harnesses to navigate the multiple roof pitches, dormers, on the house and external garage for removal and installation. The Perfect Roof team performed a thorough evaluation of our roof condition once the old roof was removed, and we were given the opportunity to also assess for damage. We observed slight damage that agreed with the Perfect Roof crew, and they proactively planned to repair the damaged areas. This amounted to a few sheets of underlayment that needed to be replaced, and there was no extra cost. After spending some time observing the shingle installation process, it was apparent that the crew performs like a high functioning team: well defined roles, helping each other, trust working together, and everyone contributing. It was positive experience working with Carlo, the crew, and the entire team from Perfect Roof."

"New Look Home Exteriors recently finished putting on a new roof for me. I received around 6 quotes from roofing contractors and landed on these guys because of how thorough and professional they were. The communication through the entire process was top notch. The roof looks fantastic as well. If you need a new roof, look no further!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Rain shouldn’t come in through your ridge vents unless your vents are damaged or the rain is accompanied by very high winds. Most ridge vents use flashing or baffling to keep out rain, snow, and debris. If your ridge vent isn’t baffled, rain is more likely to enter your attic, so ridge vents with baffles are a better choice in areas with regular rainfall.

Many homeowners believe that a modern home looks better with a flat roof than a sloped roof. A flat roof can provide several aesthetic benefits for modern homes. Among the pros and cons of a flat roof for a modern home design are the clean lines and straight edges that it delivers to improve curb appeal.

No, you should not close or cover your gable vents in the winter. While it might seem logical to block cold air, heating your home creates hot air that rises and can cause condensation in the attic. If the vents are covered, this moisture becomes trapped, creating an ideal environment for mold and mildew. Keeping the gable vents open ensures proper ventilation, which helps dry out the attic, maintain even temperatures, and prevent moisture-related damage.

You can put a green roof on a regular house with a compatible slope. Green roofs are best suited for flat or gently sloped roofs, as steeply pitched roofs can make the installation and maintenance of the green roof challenging. Flat roofs can support the weight of the soil and plants and ensure effective drainage.

A roof's ability to handle snow depends on its strength and the snow's weight, as wet snow is much heavier than dry, fluffy snow. While designs in snowy regions often allow for 35 to 50 pounds per square foot, a general guideline is that a typical roof can withstand about four feet of fresh snow, two feet of packed snow, or just one inch of ice. Factors like the roof's age, slope, and support structure also affect its capacity; newer, sloped roofs generally hold more weight than older, flat ones. Ice and ice dams add significant, dangerous weight. Because capacity varies, it is best to contact a professional roofing contractor or the original builder to determine the maximum snow load for your specific home.
