"New Look Home Exteriors recently finished putting on a new roof for me. I received around 6 quotes from roofing contractors and landed on these guys because of how thorough and professional they were. The communication through the entire process was top notch. The roof looks fantastic as well. If you need a new roof, look no further!"

"A professional job was done. The whole process went as agreed in the contract. The whole roof was done in one day. The crew was diligent in there work. I would recommend them to others thinking about a roof replacement. I didn't have a metal roof installed and opted for conventional shingles."

"Jesse is excellent at what he does, very knowledgeable. He fixed all the vents on my roof. I have three fan vents, two pipe vents and my furnace vent, all were leaking. He removed the incorrect vents placed on my roof by another contractor just 2 years ago (lesson learned!) and replaced them with the correct vents. He also put a ridge vent back, which the other contractor left off. I credit Jesse with saving my roof. He is very courteous and arrives when he says he will. If you want the job done right the first time, I highly recommend him. He is worth every penny and then some."

Properly installed chimney flashing can last anywhere from 15 to 50 years. However, flashing generally only needs to be replaced when it is damaged, corroded, or no longer creates a watertight seal. Several factors influence its longevity, including the material type, quality of installation, and local climate. For example, copper flashing tends to last longer than galvanized steel. Large storms and extreme weather can also damage flashing, potentially requiring earlier replacement. To ensure its longevity, it is recommended to have your chimney and roof inspected annually. A professional can assess the flashing's condition and recommend any necessary repairs.

To cap off a chimney flue, start by measuring its width, length, and diameter, if it’s circular. Purchase a cap that fits the flue, and decide whether you want a temporary or permanent model. Then, slide or insert the cap onto the flue and secure it with a screwdriver. Be sure to avoid over-tightening the screws to prevent chimney damage.

Gable vents are more common in older homes built before the 1970s. Homes built after this era use ridge vents or soffits, but you can sometimes find homes with both gable and ridge vents. Gable vents can have a purely aesthetic purpose, while ridge vents hide in the roof shingles so air can flow under the roof while keeping the attic dry.

While spotting a bit of algae on your roof may not bother you at first glance, it is certainly bothering your roof shingles. The presence of algae can cause decay and shorten the lifespan of your roof’s shingles, which can lead to much bigger problems down the road. While this issue may seem cosmetic at first glance, it goes much deeper than that.

Asphalt shingles are the least-expensive roofing material. They cost around $10,000 for a 1,600-square-foot home compared to $16,500 for metal roofing or $25,000 for slate shingles.
