"(1600 sq. ft. ranch style home-cathedral ceilings-drywall work & whole home painting) I can't say enough great things about Nate and his team that completed the job in my home. I knew immediately after meeting with Nate for a quote that I would hire him. We had a few others give us varying quotes, but Nate was straight forward with what he could and couldn't fix and was honest about the time frame and cost. Nate would send me a message each day to update me on the approximate arrival time or if they were not going to be on-site that day. This was helpful for planning my day. His team of workers were professional and always very courteous (they even took the time to play with the dog a few minutes...which was a win in my book). The job was no easy task as I have cathedral ceilings, and I think I heard on more than one occasion that it may have been the worst drywall work they had seen...but that did not discourage this team. They worked hard and it paid off. My home looks absolutely amazing-like a new house! The paint they chose was perfect and helped really tie everything together. It is also good to note that the guys kept my home extremely clean through the process-you almost didn't know that they were there and doing drywall. Each day they would take down the scaffolding, vacuum/sweep the floors, or remove any plastic and tape that had been place, so I could continue to live in my home almost without any disruption. Nate and his crew went above and beyond to be sure that I was happy with the work, checking in with me to be sure I was happy and even completed a few extras that were not in my initial quote-but completed upon my request without a complaint. They stayed right on budget and there were no surprises at the end of the job. I would highly recommend Nate and his team and will certainly hire them again if the need arises."

"Chris Jordan and his team did an excellent job with my attic insulation. Chris was very professional and quite nice. He explained everything in detail during the consultation. I received four quotes and Chrisâ was quite comparable. I had a roof issue going on and wanted to complete the removal/replacement of the insulation in phases. Chris worked with me to complete the insulation as needed. His crew arrived on time. They covered work areas prior to working and ensured that everything was clean afterwards. They even did some extras without nickeling and diming me. The pricing was quite reasonable for all the effort they put in. I would definitely recommend Quality Insulation for the exceptional service provided."

"Awesome. Tim was able to repair the hole in the ceiling drywall and paint just the repaired part, not the whole ceiling. You can not tell where the hole was even with light shinning on it. Tim was very professional, repair work was done quickly and he was extremely neat. He communicated his repair plan and kept in contact with us for updates. There wasn't even any dust left anywhere. I would highly recommend Tim for any drywall or painting needs. Before and after photos below."

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can cover a popcorn ceiling, which is often more cost-effective and easier than scraping it off. Common methods include using ceiling-grade drywall, applying a skim coat, or installing beadboard panels to create a smooth, updated finish. Covering the ceiling can also protect you from asbestos exposure if the material contains it. However, it's important to note that this method only seals off the asbestos and does not eliminate it, which could be a concern for future renovations or home resale. If you suspect your ceiling contains asbestos, it's best to hire a local asbestos abatement company to test the material and manage its safe removal.

Under the right circumstances, removing your popcorn ceiling can have a favorable ROI exceeding 80%. The ROI depends on several factors, such as the size of your ceiling, where the texture is located in your home, the state of the housing market, and whether the ceiling contains asbestos.

Textured walls are a great way to hide imperfections left over by drywall installation, but many homeowners feel like it’s an outdated look, despite there being so many types of drywall texture. And while the textured walls of today are a far cry from the popcorn ceilings and faux stucco of our grandmother’s homes, if you want a more modern look or you want to install wallpaper, it’s time to smooth out your walls.

Smooth ceilings create a modern, clean look that helps brighten rooms by reflecting light, making spaces feel more open. They're easy to paint and maintain but can show imperfections. Textured ceilings add character and hide flaws like cracks or uneven drywall. With a range of patterns, you can opt for a subtle texture or something more decorative. The choice between smooth and textured ceilings comes down to your personal style and the look you want for your space.

Because of the nature of the texture, it's common for the popcorn texture to loosen while painting. Popcorn ceilings are delicate, and using a heavy hand with a roller or applying overly wet paint can loosen the texture. To avoid a mess, handle the material gently with a roller or brush. It's also smart to test a small area first, and if the texture starts coming off, the ceiling may need repairs or sealing before painting.
