"I contacted this company for an inspection and potential cleaning of my fireplace. I met with Mr. Ray on the confirmed date and time, he was very professional and informative about the task and my options. He completed the inspection and cleaning in a timely manner without leaving a mess behind. I highly recommend this company!!"

"Very polite and friendly. They found one problem on the outside of the chimney and took care of right away. We've already started using our fireplace and everything works great. I would recommend Shamrock chimney sweep. Nice company."

"I have three flues which hadn't been cleaned or inspected for several years We do use our fireplaces fairly frequently. Safe Draft came and looked at them and said they were fine and didn't need cleaning. They didn't do cleaning that wasn't needed. How refreshing!! The inspection was free!! They were professional and timely. I would highly recommend them!!"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

According to the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA), the leading cause of house fires is cooking accidents, followed by fires started by heating equipment. Electrical issues are the third most common cause of house fires. The best way to keep your home protected is to use caution when cooking and never leave a stove or oven unattended while in use. You can also keep up with chimney cleaning and avoid using space heaters to reduce the risk.

They provide an affordable, easy-to-install alternative to masonry fireplaces with efficient heating options.

Yes, capped chimneys should still be vented. Failing to vent a chimney will result in condensation buildup inside the chimney, which commonly results in mold growth. If mold begins to grow in a chimney, it frequently goes undetected and spreads quickly through the home. Mold and moisture can damage the structural integrity of your home, and exposure to mold can cause discomfort and illness in residents.

You can let a fire burn out in a fireplace as long as you or someone else will stick around to monitor it until it goes completely out. This may take several hours. To prepare, stop adding fuel to the fire well before you’re ready to call it a night. If you’re using the fireplace for warmth, you’ll want to cover up in some blankets as the flame dies down.

When your fireplace is not in use for longer periods of time, such as over the summer, you can keep smells at bay by spraying either a commercial fireplace deodorizing product or a blend of one part distilled white vinegar to one part water around the walls of the fireplace.

Or, you can place a container of charcoal inside the fireplace to absorb odors. Just be sure to remove it before it’s time to start using the fireplace again.
