"My husband and I are probably Phil Hoebler's ( Hoebler Pool and Spa) happiest customers and biggest fans. Phil successfully fixed our in ground pool heater which was not your simple, routine job. Our heater had some serious "issues" too complicated to list, but Phil systematically went through each problem with determination to restore heat to our 22 by 40 pool. During this entire, lengthy process, his professionalism and good nature prevailed. Thank you, Phil, for your expertise and persistence. You never gave up on us and we appreciate your dedication and time spent to correct the heater problem . Hoebler Pool and Spa is the best."

"They were awesome. I was very late in the year closing my pool. They came in and cleaned the leaves out of my pool. Treated the pool with chemicals and winterized it. They were very good about explaining everything and making suggestions for opening the pool in the spring. As a new pool owner, they were super about explaining everything. They were very patient , kind, and professional. I highly recommend them.

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

If you don’t clean your hot tub filters, they’ll build up dirt and grime, preventing them from filtering out contaminants like dirt and bacteria. The dirty water will then circulate through the filter and back into the hot tub, leading to dirty water, a damaged pump and jets, and low heat. This can lead to higher hot tub costs because you may have to pay for repairs.

Hot tub heaters typically last seven to 10 years, though some might only last five years if not properly maintained. You can maximize your hot tub heater’s lifespan by ensuring the water’s pH level is properly balanced.

If water is left inside the hot tub pump over a cold winter, it could freeze and severely damage the pump, water lines, and jets. That can cause leaks, which require very expensive repairs. Freezing or leftover water can stain and damage the hot tub shell, which leads to replacement. Even in mild climates, leaving sitting water in the tub or pipes for a long period of unuse is a bad idea, since disinfecting chemicals fade and the water can develop bacteria, algae, and other big headaches when it’s time to use the tub again.

When your hot tub is completely dry, there is typically no need to introduce antifreeze into the plumbing. However, if you desire an extra layer of protection against potential freeze damage, you can consider adding some RV antifreeze to your hot tub lines. Just ensure that you use RV antifreeze specifically, as automotive antifreeze is highly toxic and should be avoided.

Many people find saltwater tubs worth the upfront expense. They cost less to maintain than traditional hot tubs, so you can save in the long term. Maintenance is also easier, typically involving balancing the pH and cleaning the tub rather than adding chemicals. They’re also gentler on sensitive skin, and you won’t walk away with a strong chlorine odor.
