"Jeff was here and quoted me $300 to remove stump and said it would take approx: 3/4 of a day. Told him I had a quote for $200 already and he dropped price to $250. Got back to him a few days later and said I would have him do it as the other guy couldn't do it for over a month or better. He was all up for it and said he would call me back next morning and set up for 2 to 3 days out. Never called back so I called him and he said had problem with other equipment and if I wanted to said "hire someone else please". I text him back and said when could he possibly get to it. No response. I rented a grinder, trailer included for 4 hrs. Picked it up 20 minutes away, did stump myself, 20 minute drive back to return. Total time to remove stump that was 90% plus eaten out by bugs, including pick up and delivery was 2 hrs and 40 minutes, not 3/4 of a day. Total cost with tax was $96.30.....NO, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. This guy is not who he portrays himself to be."

Staining a wood fence isn’t guaranteed to prevent warping, but it can help. Plus, it’s a beginner-friendly DIY project that you can finish in a few days. You should wait three to six months after you buy it to paint pressure-treated wood. It needs time to dry from the chemicals applied to it. If you’re deciding between limewash versus whitewash, know that both have a chalky matte appearance. Limewash is made from lime, water, and sometimes pigment, while whitewash consists of lime, water, white chalk, and binders (though you can get a similar look with watered-down white paint). Whitewash has fewer options for color customization, and it sits on surfaces instead of being absorbed into them, which can trap moisture. Whitewashing costs less—about $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

Unlike a sealer, which sits on top of the wood grain, a combination stain and sealer soaks into the top layer. As a result, stains do a better job of protecting the wood from UV damage and rot and last significantly longer. Use a near-translucent stain that won’t alter the cedar’s natural color for the best results.

If your cedar fence is new, don’t delay. Unlike treated pine, you don’t need to wait months for the wood to dry out for it to accept stain. With cedar, the sooner, the better. Seal cedar within two weeks of installation to prevent the sun from fading its red color.
