"Freddie, was fabulas! He assembled the ceiling fan and hooked it up. He even helped us with a loose switch cover. We have plans to call him back with some other jobs that need to be done around the house. I thought his prices were good. Thank you Freddie."

"These guys are fantastic. I called for them and they came within the hour. The foreman is very professional, thorough and courtesy. He noticed and immediately discussed things that needed correction. I had two fans installed in my great room and the price he gave me was extremely fair. He even changed my halogen bulbs from my high ceiling to LED. The explanation of each course of action was given in detail, and with enough comprehension for understanding. These gentlemen cleanup quickly. If you need to have electrical work done, Ohms electricians are trustworthy electricians."

"I had 4 canister lights that I wanted to replace because they were 60+ watts and would fail often due to the high temperatures.  I wanted LED lights and Kevin gave me a price of $389 installed at the beginning of December 2012.  After waiting almost 2 weeks, Kevin said he couldn't get me the LEDs he showed me and told me that the replacements he ordered would be in, in another week or so.  Because of the lamps taking awile to arrive and the holidays, he wasn't able to install them until after Jan 1st.  His work was fine and his price came in with his estimate.  My wife complained that he should have put a drop cloth down before doing the work as plaster from the ceiling went all over the floor and counters.  Otherwise, the lights work fine and I'm pleased with Kevin's work.

"I came across servicemagic website by chance and decided to apply for services as I needed an electrician. I was amazed at how quickly someone called me to discuss my project. Richard called me the next day and I informed him that I had a ceiling fan put by a non professional and it was not working. Richard immediately made an appointment to come in. He showed up on a Saturday as scheduled on time and went to work taking apart the fan. He then connected all electrical wires properly and re-installed the fan. I was very pleased with his work and will definitely use him for future projects. I highly recommend this company."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

There are several telltale signs to let you know that your ceiling fan needs servicing or replacement. For instance, if it’s wobbling, rotating too slowly, or if your ceiling fan is making noise such as squeaks, buzzes, and thumps, it’s time to have it looked at by a professional. Not only may it indicate a potential problem with the fan itself, but it could also signal a red flag that it’s improperly assembled or there’s an issue with the wiring.

To determine if your ceiling box can support a fan, you must check if it is specifically fan-rated. Manufacturers are required to indicate this on the box itself. You may need to remove the existing light fixture to look inside the ceiling box for an inscription stating it is rated for fan use. If you do not see this confirmation, the box is likely not strong enough and must be replaced with a fan-rated junction box. For a proper and safe installation, you should also use a fan brace to secure the new box between the ceiling joists, which provides the necessary support for the fan's weight and motion.

The direction your ceiling fan spins helps create comfortable airflow in your home and can also help cut down on energy costs.

During summer, your ceiling fan should spin counterclockwise. This will push cooler air downward in a column and help lower your room’s air temperature. In the winter, set your ceiling fan to spin clockwise and at the lowest speed setting. This will pull cool air upwards, displacing the warm air that pools towards the top of your ceiling and bringing it down towards the floor.

There’s no reason why you can’t install a ceiling fan anywhere in your home, such as in living rooms, offices, bedrooms, and dining areas. Most bathrooms already have ventilation and don’t need a ceiling fan. For safety purposes, avoid installing a ceiling fan where the blades will be less than eight feet from the floor, near bunk beds, or anywhere else they may hit nearby objects.

Many ceiling fan mounts feature a design that can accommodate slight slopes by using a ball joint mechanism at the end of the downrod. If your ceiling has a steeper slope than your fan allows for, you can install a downrod that will allow your fan to safely hang below the slope.
