"Very well, the locksmith arrived n time and got to work right away in replacing the locking system. He then took the time to show me how to adjust the door in the future so it would not stick as the house moved. An absolute must if you need a locksmith."

"It was A++ because they do what they say they do, they dont empty promises. They have a very old fashioned way of doing business. They already approach me even if i havent already tell them what i want. I go to them first than any other service. We have a nice relationship with them, they are very helpful to us in marketing for our local farmers market. they just blow my mind when they help us like that. Everyone should do their favor at wilsons hardware and locksmiths because they wont be dissapointed."

"Replaced all the springs, rollers and took the time to repair a very old wood door with some brackets and tightening. He was very friendly and polite. Gave the estimate and was able to do the job on the spot. Would highly recommend."

"Prompt, courteous, very professional, honest, and reasonably priced. Jim was excellent. He did not attempt to sell me anything that was not necessary. I would highly recommend Advanced Lock and Security to anyone needing locksmith services. I will call them again if I need locksmith services in the future. "Having dealt with locksmiths in the city before, Isaiah and his team were a breath of fresh air. No hidden fees, no cutting corners. They took the time to explain to me the challenges that they faced and offered me solutions to accomplish what I wanted to achieve. We service a number of clients, from individuals and management companies to full build-outs on new developments. If you want it done right the first time, there is no other option in my opinion.  We had a prior contractor do subpar work that could have cost us a substantial investment in refitting, but CPL offered us a number of solutions that allowed us to move forward with confidence. Prompt, knowledgeable, and professional. The Central Philadelphia Locksmiths are the only ones our people will use moving forward."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Smart locks offer a similar level of safety to traditional or conventional locks because they often use comparable locking mechanisms, such as deadbolts. The primary difference is the access method: smart locks use a login or code instead of a physical key, which adds convenience. While not inherently safer, some smart locks have added security features that can deter intruders, like shutting down after too many incorrect code attempts or being harder to pick. For the best security, it's recommended to combine any lock with other home safety features like motion-activated lighting, security cameras, and window and door sensors.

The cost-effectiveness of fixing or replacing a door lock depends on the severity of the issue. Repairing a minor problem, such as loose screws or a need for lubrication, is usually cheaper than replacing the entire lock. However, replacing the lock if it is severely damaged, outdated, or lacks security features may be a better long-term investment. New locks often have improved security features, enhancing your property's safety.

In some cases this is possible, but it’s not advisable as the screwdriver is likely to leave marks all over the wall and a noticeable dent on the door. Move slowly and carefully if you have to use this method, and consider calling an emergency locksmith right away instead of trying to break in.

Yes, you should always change your locks after buying a house. Do so as soon as possible after you move in. Otherwise, you won’t know who has working keys to the property, whether they’re spare keys or otherwise. If an intruder gains access to your house with a key, it may not be covered under your homeowners insurance.

The best type of deadbolt depends on your specific needs. If accessibility is your primary concern, a single-cylinder deadbolt is the easiest to operate. Mortise locks are likely the most secure type of deadbolt you can install, but single-cylinders combined with secondary locking mechanisms like vertical locks are also a great option. Smart locks will give you the most flexibility to open and close your locks whenever and wherever you need to.
