"Brotherhood Painting did an amazing job! Clay was super thorough setting up the job with us, making a very detailed list of the exact costs and what we could add on or take off when it came to various areas of the house. His crew was extremely professional, skilled and friendly, moving everything away from the paint site and re-situating it when the job was done. They re-installed the lights after taking them off, etc. And the actual paint job was beautiful."

"Made an appointment on Thurs. night at 6 pm for a Friday 8-12 cleaning window. On Friday at 11 am I called and spoke to a customer service rep who told me I was on schedule for an afternoon cleaning, 12-5pm. At 4 pm, and no call from Sears I called again. I was now told I was not scheduled as I never confirmed the appointment.

Needless to say I was quite angry, after made to sit at home all day.

Points to note:

1. This company will confirm and book you for a cleaning and will expect " confirmation" the day prior...however, they may not call you for it. I was not called at all after scheduling my first appointment and when I rebooked my appointment for Sunday I was told they woul call both my home and cell phone if i was not reached. I was only called on my cell phone, which I missed the call while driving home. I never did get a following call at home. When I returned the call to confirm, I was told by the rep that they would email me the confirmation. They did not.
2. Always get a name. Although they tape the calls, if you don't have a name to pin the problem on, they act like you lied.
3. If you have a problem where someone does not arrive talk to dispatch directly. It appears that customer service may not be talking to dispatch, although they place you on hold and state " let me check with dispatch".

In the end this company did clean my carpet at a 10% discount w/disposal waived. The fellows that came out were on time and courteous. The carpet came out pretty clean with some staining removed. However, I would not use them again."

"They came to the door and talked to my wife and I talked with them the following evening. They just gave us a bid on the job and it seemed reasonably fair but I went online to Angie's List website, they hadn't had much experience doing roofing. That's was just only part of the hesitation in using them at this point. They seem really professional and reasonably good."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Choose based on climate, finish preference (glossy, matte), and durability. Tailored coatings also provide longevity.

Stain is meant to be absorbed by the porous wood, allowing some of the natural grain to show through. With that in mind, you don’t want to add more stain than the wood can absorb, as you risk covering up its natural markings. Generally, two coats is the maximum you should do, although very dense hardwoods may only be able to take a single coat.

Wood stain is not flammable after it dries. The solvent in wood stain is what causes the liquid form to be highly flammable, but the stain drying process involves the solvents dissolving, which leaves behind a non-flammable product on your wood project. Wood stain is, however, flammable before you apply it, so you should always store partially full cans and used wood stain rags away from sources of heat and open flames.

Eggshell and satin finishes are best for porches because they sit in the sweet spot between scuffable matte and distracting high gloss. Your porch sees a fair amount of wear and tear, so you don’t want paint that’ll show every mark like matte, but you don’t want to be blinded by glossy paint in the sun either. Eggshell and satin have durability and a look that sits nicely in the middle.

Yes, it is generally a very good idea to seal your deck after pressure washing. Power washing removes not only dirt and debris but also a thin layer of wood, leaving the surface exposed and more susceptible to weathering. Sealing is almost always needed after this process. After a general cleaning, sealing isn't automatically necessary if the existing sealant is still intact. You can test the surface by placing a few drops of water on it. If the water beads up, the sealant is working. If it soaks into the wood, it's time to apply a new sealant. If it has been a few years, it's wise to remove the old sealant, wash the deck, and reseal for maximum protection.
