"Replaced deteriorated exterior siding where needed, installed several new double pane windows, replaced old carpeting with new hardwood floors, coordinated subcontractors for electrical repairs and interior house painting. All work was done professionally and to our satisfaction. Very impressed with Cody's quality management. He inspected all work by his team as well as the subcontractors to verify that the work was done correctly and to his satisfaction. I can highly recommend Valley Brothers Construction and will call them again if we need further contractor work done on our house."

"Andy came out and gave us an estimate after looking over the condition of the roof and moss. He told us about the probable schedule for getting the work done. They called and set up the appointment in a timely manner. The crew arrived right on time and completed the roof cleaning in a few hours, and did a good job of cleanup of the deck and yard from all the moss debris etc. The roof looks very good now and hopefully the moss treatment will discourage future moss growth for a while. They said if we notice green moss regrowing in a couple months they will come out and put additional moss treatment on the roof."

"The Synergy/Roofing Team did a great job. Sabel was wonderful to work with. Kevin and his crew were curtious, fast, and did a fine job of cleaning up. To top it off, Bill is top-notch with working on the siding. Very pleased!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

If you want to achieve a deeper, darker stain color, wait 5 to 10 minutes before wiping it off. However, wipe it off faster for a lighter tone. When wiping off the stain during this part of the process, be sure to work in the direction of the wood’s grain for best results.

Oxygen bleach uses hydrogen peroxide as a base and won’t harm wood when using it as a cleaner. On the other hand, chlorine bleach breaks down wood at the cellular level and causes irreversible harm. Although you may not see immediate damage to wood after exposing it to chlorine bleach, its strength and integrity are now compromised.

Beyond liquid rubber, homeowners can use sealants, stains, membranes, or tapes as waterproofing options. Oil-based or water-based sealants soak into the wood, creating a moisture-resistant barrier. Waterproofing stains—available in transparent, semi-transparent, and solid colors—add both protection and style to your deck. For heavy-duty waterproofing, deck membranes and waterproof tapes can be applied under the deck boards to direct water away from the structure below. Whatever method you choose, clean and prep the deck first to ensure the best, longest-lasting results.

It’s best to prime composite decking before painting. This promotes better paint adhesion, helps create a smooth finish, and can mean the paint job will last longer. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application, allow ample primer drying time before painting (typically 24 to 48 hours), and thoroughly clean the deck boards to promote the best adhesion.

Painting a damaged pool deck is not recommended if the substrate is crumbling, cracking, spalling, or otherwise actively deteriorating. Continuing deterioration will result in the paint also delaminating or flaking off the damaged surface. Minor damage such as chips or hairline cracks that are not actively deteriorating can often be repaired enough to paint over. A damaged pool deck with a lot of cracking and deterioration should be replaced for best results.
