"highly recommend Atlas heating an air after receiving 3 bids from the top HVAC companies in the valley. I have a fair amount of knowledge on HVAC systems and I knew my system was beyond repair Jason did a great job explaining the best solution for my situation. I accepted a fair bid and then met with Tim, Curtis and Nathan for the install. These guys are very professional, really nice and took pride in a quality install. I love my new Daikin system its quite and heats and cools much faster then my old system did on its best days. Thank you Atlas I really appreciate you guys."

"I was given an honest and complete explanation about why I should keep the thermostat that I have and not buy a more expensive and fancy one which would only be problematic for my purposes. I really appreciated that candor and professionalism."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

It’s critical to use the right size AC for your space and not go too small or too big. If you purchase an undersized unit, it won’t properly cool your house, and it has to work harder to reach the optimal temperature. This will eventually wear your unit out. An oversized unit can spell trouble because it will turn off and on more frequently, which also wears out your AC unit. An oversized unit also causes humidity in the home.

Trick question: There is no difference between an AC and a furnace blower motor. Whether you have central air and heat or just one of these, the same blower motor carries hot and cold air throughout the ductwork in your home. Certain systems may have separate blower motors for the AC and furnace, but each serves the same function.

ACs don't run on water. They're not connected to drain pipes or any part of your plumbing system. However, they need refrigerant to run. Refrigerant is a gas or liquid that has a low boiling point and absorbs the heat in your home. ACs need this in order to be functional and cool your home. If you suspect your AC is low on refrigerant, you need to contact a licensed HVAC professional. Refrigerant is a dangerous chemical that requires specialized training and permits to work with.

An AC inspection costs anywhere from $75 to $200, while a full HVAC system inspection that includes your furnace ranges from $200 to $450. While there's a cost to a home AC inspection, it can save you hundreds or thousands in the long run by catching problems, avoiding breaks, and saving you money on your utility bills.

You should know the main components of an air conditioner: the condenser coils, evaporator coils, drip pan, AC filter, ducts, and refrigerant. Each part plays a key role in the performance and safety of your AC system. When tracking the source of AC issues or odors, it helps to know where to look. Your outdoor unit houses your condenser coils, fan, and compressor. Your indoor unit houses your evaporator coils, drain lines, and filter, and it connects to your ductwork.
