Of all the companies we had bid, we really felt like Mike listened to our vision and didn’t feel the need to rearrange it to his preference. He also gave us some great suggestions and recommendations, some which we decided to go ahead with and some not. The price was really reasonable, and we ended up adding the front deck replacement mid-project. Both Mike and Troy were responsive and courteous, and did a great job, as well as the contractors that covered the roofing and paint. A few minor details were missed between what we discussed and what they executed, but nothing major. Overall we were really happy with them, and plan to use them again for additional projects we have in mind. We highly recommend them for your next project!"

The tile spacing you should use will depend on the tile and where you’re installing it. Choosing the right tile spacers to maintain a consistent gap between your tiles is tricky. Generally, tile spacing shouldn’t be less than 2 millimeters on walls and 3 millimeters on floors because of stress relief requirements. Getting it wrong can result in uneven tiles and early repairs.

Glass, ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone are all excellent choices for tiling a shower floor. Some glazed finishes can be slippery when wet. Your tiling contractor can provide more information on which tiles will work best for your shower floor.

If that’s out of your budget, you could consider laying the tiles yourself or choosing a less expensive type of flooring. Grout and caulk are commonly used together, especially in bathrooms. Grout goes between the tiles and keeps them sturdy and in place on the walls or floor. Caulk goes in corners or where two different materials meet (like where the bathtub meets the tile) to create a waterproof seal. However, they are not interchangeable—you shouldn't use caulk to adhere tile and shouldn’t use mortar if you need a waterproof seal.
