"What a fantastic experience! No nonsense quick service with an excellent selection and super knowledgeable staff. Once I chose my flooring from the amazing selection they had available, they quickly got me scheduled and the work complete all while educating me on proper care to extend the life of my new flooring. "Shane Hatch is a talented, “Master Craftsman” and I would not look for anyone else to do my flooring. Extremely likable personality; hard working; on time; and the floors came out beautiful. His work speaks for itself! He left us with gorgeous floors and no mess to clean up. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone. Kelly Blacher-Albany, OR"

"Replaced deteriorated exterior siding where needed, installed several new double pane windows, replaced old carpeting with new hardwood floors, coordinated subcontractors for electrical repairs and interior house painting. All work was done professionally and to our satisfaction. Very impressed with Cody's quality management. He inspected all work by his team as well as the subcontractors to verify that the work was done correctly and to his satisfaction. I can highly recommend Valley Brothers Construction and will call them again if we need further contractor work done on our house."

"We found Kyle on Angi, a bit desperate with a remodel gone south and a move-in date looming. Although he does not live in our area, he agreed to come out and take a look, which was 2 days later and on a Saturday. We so appreciated this already extra effort after we learned Kyle has a young family. We reviewed what needed to be done. First and foremost was preparing a working bathroom, so Kyle carved out time in his already busy schedule the following Tuesday and did just that. He has been back to our home 3 times since and we feel fortunate to have him each time. He is smart, professional and his communication skills are excellent. He takes the time to listen and talk through alternative solutions with clients. In our home he has tackled many remedial projects including tile/grout, flooring, plumbing and cabinetry. Needless to say, we have been really impressed with Kyle, his experience and skill set and we highly recommend him!!!"

The cost of flooring installation is $3,000 for the average homeowner. This cost can range from $1,500 to $4,500, depending on the project size, flooring material, and any special features. For example, if stairs need new flooring, you can expect to pay about $11 to $160 per step. Additionally, hardwood flooring costs significantly more than linoleum, with hardwood ranging from $6 to $22 per square foot and linoleum costing $3 to $7 per square foot.
Believe it or not, adding new flooring—especially floors like hardwood, laminate, tile, or vinyl—can add significant value to your home. If you update your flooring close to when you sell your home, you can see up to a 70% ROI on your new floors. Adding new flooring to your home is one of the quickest ways to make the whole room look refreshed and new, which is a positive point for selling.
While you certainly can install new flooring yourself, it may not always be the best idea. Since the condition of the floors is a significant component of your property’s value, it’s important that your project looks professionally done. If not, you run the risk of needing to have them replaced again before selling your home. If you’re looking to save money on the cost of floor installation, consider removing the old flooring yourself to save on labor costs.
When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.
Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
It takes about one to three days for a two-person crew to lay 800 to 1,000 square feet of flooring daily. Remember that removal of existing flooring and additional prep work is considered during this time, and it’s likely that you won’t be able to pass through the room easily. In addition, you can expect lots of hammering and other noise from power tools during installation, so it’s best to plan accordingly.
