Customers say: Quick response

"It was a pleasure to work with them. The quality of their work was superb, outstanding!! They were very professional, prompt, and took time to answer all of my questions. I did the demolition work for our shower. It was my first time to do that type of demolition. He was very patient and walked me through it. The best part, his price was reasonable. I would highly recommend his work to anyone."

"These guys worked really hard getting the floored to get back to the original good look from the 50’s. It took some extra TLC but these guys came though at the end. Very dedicated and easy to work with. I highly recommend them for your project. Mark"

"We had Valley Brothers out to deal with the dilapidated fence at our new house last year. They replaced the bad parts of the fence and built us two beautiful gates that are still working flawlessly a year later, and at a good price. During the entire experience they were pleasant, professional, courteous, and respectful of our time. We will definitely give them a call when we have any future work to do."

"From estimate to finish the project went very well. Pricing was less than Costco flooring (similar quality). Nate's estimate was done quickly and on the mark. The process of making our selections were the most time consuming and Annie was very helpful in helping us narrow down on what we wanted. We cleared away furniture to make it easier for the contractor. The project took a couple more days to complete due to the removal of stubborn tile in the entryway. The contractor's crew was very courteous and professional. They did a great job of installing both carpet in the bedrooms and LVP in the rest of the house. Highly recommend them."

Small jobs welcome

"Andrew did several projects for us: • Replaced tub/shower with a tiled walk-in shower • Installed a pocket door • Installed a new window in a bedroom • Installed a new deck • Rerouted dryer vent • Installed new front door. Each job was done to perfection. Andrew is very easy to talk to and communicated with us throughout the project. We are very happy with his work and highly recommend Andrew. He will be the first one we call if we have another job for him."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Regardless of the material, basic square tiles will never go out of style. Neutral colors like white, grey, beige, and black will always be in demand in residential and commercial settings. Certain designs, like herringbone and hexagonal patterns, are considered timeless. Porcelain and porcelain-like tiles will also never go out of style.

If you hire a professional to lay tile, you can expect to pay $3 to $15 per square foot for labor. For a 100-square-foot tiling project, that would equal $30 to $150 in labor. These costs may increase if you need extra services (such as tile removal, wall repair, or waterproofing). For example, tile removal costs an additional $2 to $7 per square foot.

If you want your ceramic tiles to be evenly spaced and installation to take less time, spacers are a crucial part of the installation process.

Grout and caulk are commonly used together, especially in bathrooms. Grout goes between the tiles and keeps them sturdy and in place on the walls or floor. Caulk goes in corners or where two different materials meet (like where the bathtub meets the tile) to create a waterproof seal. However, they are not interchangeable—you shouldn't use caulk to adhere tile and shouldn’t use mortar if you need a waterproof seal.

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.
