Sergy kept me informed throughout the repair and restoration of our 1950s era red oak floors. He was accurate and upfront with his estimate and any additional costs; such as replacing damaged boards. He always consulted me to make sure that I understood and agreed before doing any additional repairs. It was so nice to work with an honest, hardworking, and expert craftsman who does beautiful work for a fair price. Sergey was hired to re-do the finish on all the top-nail oak flooring of our 1927 house. He is hardworking and very knowledgeable about refinishing methods. He checked in with me at every stage and did what I wanted even when it was harder. He was willing to use the “old time” techniques and materials necessary to make top-nailed floors look great. However, in the end, the bedroom floors were not sanded smoothly and a lot of stains were left on walls and woodwork. My reluctance to use him again is due to his pushy, somewhat manipulative business manner. He pressured us to give large payments at the start of the job and after sanding but before the finishes were applied. We declined to make that second payment until after the job was completed.

It's been 6 months since Sergey refinished our floors wanted to make sure and give a review on our experience. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome and still love the floors!! A water hose failure under our sink created an issue with the wood floor. Sergey was very quick to respond and came out after hours to give us a quote. From that first contact it was apparent that he takes pride in his craft and has high standards for the quality of his work. He was a wealth of information too. We had Sergey refinish our kitchen-family room, entry, closets and powder room. We decided not to stain the wood floors and went with the natural finish. I'm a person who appreciates someone who pays attention to detail, which Sergery does! You will not be disappointed in the quality of his work and his strong work ethic. He's worth the money so don't hesitate to call him you want the best possible outcome.

We hired Sergey to refinished the white oak floors that are original to our 1959 home. He arrived to our appointment early and walked us through his whole process. He was measured our space and gave us a quote on the spot. He was very transparent and put us at ease right away. When we told him we had appointments set up to get other quotes he told us what took for in other companies- advising us to as certain questions, specific aspects of their process we should be aware of, etc. Sergey started his work early Monday morning. By that afternoon he had completed the initial sanding and filling of the floor. He the stained and resanded over Tuesday and Wednesday with the final coat applied on Thursday. We did the final walk through Friday morning and were flown away by the results. The worn and damaged floors had been transformed. They’re soft, bright and with the most perfect satin sheen. Sergey’s van says “Good is never cheap and cheap is never good.” That absolutely rings true. Sergey’s work isn’t just good. He is the absolute best and worth every penny. We highly, highly recommend him

Sergey did a fantastic job bringing the intricate oak hardwood floors back to life at an investment property. Before Sergey began, the floors were unloved but had a obviously hidden beauty that needed to be brought out. My goal was to get the job done right. I vetted 5 hardwood flooring companies and chose to go with Sergey. Sergey was extremely communicative. He was responsive to questions at all hours, he walked me through what to expect at each stage, and he worked well with the other contractors I had at the property. Sergey has a passion for hardwood floors, and he cares about his reputation. This was obvious in the care he took to get the job done right. We unfortunately had a small section of engineered hardwood flooring damaged due to a plumbing leak; less than 8 sq. ft. I contacted multiple contractors to get a quote and Sergey was the only one who responded. No one else wanted to deal with such a small repair project. He came out to review the situation and discuss the challenges of getting it right, especially since we only had a few pieces of material to work with that we saved from the original install 11 years ago. This was a very tricky, surgical repair with little room for error. Sergey arrived on time the day we agreed upon, we again discussed the risks if something went wrong, and he got to work. He removed a small section to evaluate how the pieces were glued to the concrete flooring. From there, we decided to move forward. He set up shop, was extremely organized and thoughtful to keep the area clean and dust free. The finished work is excellent! Not a single error or mishap. Sergey was professional, accommodating, and a true craftsman. I am very appreciative that he did not turn away the job given it's size and difficulty.

Sergey did an amazing job and the entire project was very smooth. He is very responsive, always on time and in touch and very detail oriented. I consider myself to be pretty picky and care a lot about aesthetics and Sergey exceeded my expectations. He uses a dustless system and left our place in very clean condition. I would highly recommend Sergey if you are needing any kind of wood flooring work done. I have worked with many/various contractors over the years and I can honestly say that this was the best experience I have had.

I believe this is the fourth time we have hired Sergey to help us with our 110-year-old fir floors. He is the only one I trust to do the job right. This time we hired him to help us remove vinyl tiles that were installed in the 60s with a black tar-like adhesive. The majority of them were installed directly onto bare wood that made the adhesive nearly impossible to remove. I attempted to remove them myself but after spending over eight hours and only got a couple of rows removed (albeit sloppily) and hadn't a clue how to get the adhesive off the floor. So we called Sergey. Sergey had a brilliant solution and was able to remove both the tiles and the adhesive in less than a day and a half without damaging the original wood floor underneath. Once we get a wall moved we will be hiring him to come back and complete the refinishing of the floor. I have recommended him to friends and will continue to recommend him to anyone, especially if they have an older or historic home.

With Hardwood Floor Specialist, L.L.C. you get one of the Best Quality Professional jobs done in the Portland - Vancouver Area.  Sergey the owner/operator is 1st Class all the way!  He did a Job that turned out superb and made my wife very happy!  Sergey is a true craftsman and is very good at what he does.  His  cost is more than some installers, but the detail and quality is well worth it.  We had a new edition added to our house and the other contractor was something to be desired.  Sergey came in and fixed the sub floor by sanding it and making sure it was prepped to lay down the pre-finished Bamboo flooring and custom molding for the thresholds.  He is very skilled at how to prep a sub floor that was very uneven with highs and low spots.  Only by his expertise the floor came out very beautiful and level.  I would recommend Sergey to anyone that wants there Hardwood Floor done right the first time!

We have hardwood floors through entryway, hall, nook, kitchen of our previous house which we are getting ready to sell. The floors needed help, had some scratches and discoloration in some spots. Sergey was very responsive. We got an estimate in a timely manner and the job was done not long after that. Sergey was excellent at communicating everything along the way, doing all the things he said he was going to do, when he said he would do it. He completely cleaned up afterwards and took lots of extra care with finishes, trim work, etc. The floors are absolutely beautiful now, quite possibly better than when we bought the house new. Other workers who came through the house afterwords remarked on how nice a job was done on the hardwood floors- I'm not kidding, it's really nice.

Serge had to be called in to repair a floor that was damaged by a contractor. He did an amazing job, and the repair cannot even be detected. He really knows his stuff, and was able to match not only the stain, but also the species of wood and the cut of the grain!

Serge is the master when it comes to hardwood floors. He took old Red Oak floors and transformed them into a thing of beauty. his attention to detail is remarkable, and he is a complete professional. I have used him on two separate projects now, and would hire him again for a floor refinish.

I cannot say enough positive things about Sergey. He is the consummate professional, and quite the perfectionist. He explains everything in detail, his fees are well worth his services, and his work is impeccable. I highly recommend him for any hardwood floor restoration project.

I was hesitant because I didn't want the new floors to clash with the historic nature of the house, but Sergey convinced me that it was the best option, especially the stranded bamboo, which is much more durable than even regular hard wood. This was a good call, since the house is a rental. The house had considerable settling and therefore much of the floor was uneven, particularly in the living room, where there was a huge hump in the floor on the sides of where a fireplace/chimney used to be. After Sergey's work, however, the hump was barely noticeable! The work was impeccable. Most importantly, Sergey was super RESPONSIVE and delivered on his promises. This was a very refreshing change to the prior floor guy I'd enlisted to help me, who wouldn't respond to email or text. Sergey dealt with other contractors as they came and went, and gave me honest, reliable advice about the floors and the rental as a whole, which I greatly appreciated. I was on a short deadline and was amazed he was able to squeeze me in so quickly. He was fantastic and I would recommend him unequivocally. I'm posting some photos of the unit and the floors, though I will post better ones once the painters are through and I can get into the unit and more easily take photos.

Sergey’s work is above and beyond anything I’ve seen before. He knows so much about the wood and how it is antalled and most importantly how to repair it so the old and new match perfectly. He’s honest with his assessment of your floors, the health of the wood, and the difficulties with certain repairs. If he can’t save your floors or he thinks what you want to do is a waste of your money, he’s going to tell you. I recommend him to anyone that is in need of repairs to a wood floor or anyone in search of an honest opinion and fare quote. His $49 estimate fee (it goes toward the cost of the job) is more than worth it.

I can’t say enough good things about both Sergey’s work and Sergey himself. He is brutally honest when it comes to his assessment of your floors, the health of the wood, and the difficulties with certain repairs. If he can’t save your floors or he thinks what you want to do is a waste of your money, he’s going to tell you. And I like that. I never feel like he’s trying to sell me on anything. I trust his opinion and his work speaks for itself. I have spent several weeks with him now over the past few months and he has taught me so many things about wood floors; how to properly remove flooring in order to save it for reuse, how to clean and sort salvaged wood, and how to build a new stairwell threshold tread to name a few. I wouldn’t trust anyone else to work on 110-year-old floors; his knowledge of fir floors and skills with repairs and refinishing meant we could save the original floors and have them look incredible.

Sergey is a master craftsman in wood flooring, both repairing the damaged areas and installing the new flooring. The existing wood floor is red oak with various tones and shading, which makes matching repairs and blending the wood into the adjoining room very difficult. Sergey was able to match the new floor perfectly and the repairs are flawless. He is a very dedicated worker and strives to please his customers.

Excellent work. Sergey charges $49 to come out and provide an estimate. If you hire him for the project, the cost of the estimate goes toward the project. Our 1954 house had carpet in the living room and hallway when we bought it. We removed the carpet and found that the hardwood floors underneath were in pretty rough shape. We weren't sure the floors in the hallway could be salvaged. He gave us several options, and we could not be happier with the final outcome. He's very, very good. Sergey was professional and easy to communicate with. He was prompt to the estimate, provided very accurate information about what he could and could not do. We scheduled the work a few weeks out, and he showed up a few minutes early to the job every day. Excellent attention to detail, provides updates during the work with texts and photos, and responds quickly by text to any questions. We would definitely hire him again in the future.
