"They were super communicative. They had some issues with one of their vans, but in the end, they made it all the way up to government camp and cleaned our carpet. It’s a two-story townhouse with steep steps that are all carpeted and then second floor carpet and living room carpet we have had the carpets cleaned numerous times in the past and they have been OK. This time they look brand new. What a great job I would only use them to clean any of my carpets in the future."

"Salvador was quick and responsive when I reached out. We had left the area already and I needed a final cleaning of the carpets for the new owner. He communicated well to me and my realtor and the end result was great. Cost to value was A+."

"Some of the factors that brought my rating both down & up were unique to the situation. Pros: The customer service was fantastic, especially when mistakes were made. I felt like the most important thing to the people at Trinity Flooring, was for me to be happy with both the finished job & my experience with the company as a whole. The crew that installed my carpet worked harder & faster than I've ever seen anyone work in my life. They were an absolute joy to have in my home. Cons: The only issues I had were how things were left when the job was done. My new carpet was covered with carpet shavings, long pieces of stitching shooting out from the edges of the carpet & some of the baseboards were chipped. I've never had new carpet installed, so this could very well be the norm, but cleaning up after completing the job I've paid you to do seems like a reasonable act. When I have my house painted, they don't leave the tape up when the painters finish. The carpet shavings weren't there when you arrived so they should not remain when you leave. I was surprised, if it were me, I'd want my finished product to look presentable when the customer first sees it. The same goes for the large amount of stitching sticking out all over my house. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning just in case these things aren't the industry standard. Pricing was my lowest bid & they were also able to fit me into their schedule the soonest. I would recommend them & I would hire them again."

"We removed the wet pad and dried out the carpet and cement floor for a week. Gary came over to check out the situation and see the kind of pad we still had in place, then came back the next day with the replacement pad. He installed the pad, repaired some loose tack strip, and re-stretched the carpet. All went well and took about 90 minutes. We can't tell that anything happened to the carpet, and the pad feels the same as the original pad (it was about 2 years old)

"It went surprisingly well. Eugene kept me informed of what each step would be and helped me with decision making. We were surprised when the project ended a day early! I plan to hire this company in the Spring when I have the other carpets replaced. I will also be giving his name to a friend of mine who will need floor work in the future."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

While it is possible to install carpet yourself, it is a challenging DIY project that requires precise measurement, proper cutting skills, and knowledge of correct installation techniques. The process involves multiple steps, including removing old flooring, installing underlayment and tack strips, and stretching the carpet to prevent wrinkles, which can take several days to complete.

Before starting, consider these factors:

  • Warranty: Many manufacturers' warranties are voided if the carpet is not installed by a professional.

  • Tools: You will need to buy or rent specialized equipment like a knee kicker, carpet stretcher, and seam roller.

  • Complexity: DIY installation is most suitable for simple, straightforward rooms. Projects involving stairs or floor vents are significantly more difficult.

  • Cost: While you can save on labor, the cost of tools plus the risk of expensive mistakes—which may require re-installation—can make hiring a professional more cost-effective in the long run.

Given the potential for errors, voided warranties, and the need for special tools, hiring a local carpet installer is often recommended to ensure the job is done correctly and safely.

It is not recommended to install or stretch a carpet without a power stretcher. Skipping essential tools like a power stretcher and a knee kicker will likely result in an improper installation, leaving you with wrinkles, creases, and an unappealing final look. While a knee kicker can provide some limited stretching for thinner carpets, it is not a proper substitute. Attempting to stretch a carpet by hand or with homemade tools can also shorten its lifespan. For the best results, you should buy or rent a stretcher. If you do not want to use a stretcher, it is better to hire a professional for the installation.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction and friction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls. Additionally, if a fall does occur, carpet offers more cushioning, which can lessen the severity of an injury. While hard surfaces can look great, they are often more slippery. However, it's worth noting that some carpets, especially if they are new, dirty, or have a slick texture, can also pose a slipping hazard. To improve safety on any type of stair surface, you can add traction treads to increase grip.

Carpet is most often affixed to the floor by tacks in tack strips rather than nailed or glued directly to the subfloor. The tack strips are nailed to wood subfloors. Even if you want to install carpet over concrete, you’ll adhere the tack strips to the concrete with masonry nails or a liquid adhesive.

Carpet density refers to how closely together the fibers of a carpet are stitched into the carpet backing, with values ranging from 1,000 to 7,000. A carpet density value of 3,000 or higher is considered best for most homes, especially in high-traffic areas, such as a living room or dining room. If you’re comparing two carpets made of the same material, a higher carpet density can indicate better durability and longevity. However, carpet density is only one of many factors that can help you determine a carpet’s quality.
