"They were super communicative. They had some issues with one of their vans, but in the end, they made it all the way up to government camp and cleaned our carpet. It’s a two-story townhouse with steep steps that are all carpeted and then second floor carpet and living room carpet we have had the carpets cleaned numerous times in the past and they have been OK. This time they look brand new. What a great job I would only use them to clean any of my carpets in the future."

"Salvador was quick and responsive when I reached out. We had left the area already and I needed a final cleaning of the carpets for the new owner. He communicated well to me and my realtor and the end result was great. Cost to value was A+."

"Gary is awesome!  Very pleasantly businesslike.  Not a lot of extra chitchat and ~ sometimes ~ that's just what a busy homeowner needs that day (I did).  Though certainly he is friendly and readily answered any questions I had.
He took measurements on his initial visit for the free estimate.  I was impressed that while he did the measurements with the tape, he muttered aloud to himself the numbers as he went - without writing them down.  Maybe he recorded measurements later?  He is so experienced he just knows exactly what he's doing.  Told me the yardage to order and was spot on (as it later turned out).
I had planned to order carpet from a typical big box store, but Gary mentioned another place I'd never heard of:  Contract Furnishing Mart in Tigard.  It was in the direction of the hardware store I was going to anyway, so I stopped in.  Turns out CFM is a wholesale flooring place (have cabinetry too).  They work with the installers who have accounts there.   I shopped & compared & decided I liked the quality of their carpet better - - so I appreciated his suggestion.
Even though we had a delay between lifting the old carpet & Gary installing the new, he was patient & accommodating enough to readily reschedule.  Ditto for the CFM warehouse holding our carpet roll an extra couple weeks, no charge, no problem.
Gary installed our carpet in a large room with awkward angles, and it looks terrific.  He encountered a minor problem en route and educated me about carpet weave patterns sometimes lining up 'just so' to create a thin dark or light line at the seam.  However, he is experienced enough to recognize and correct it.  We really appreciated his perfectionism and attention to small details.
We would be pleased to hire him again if we re-carpet another room, and highly recommend him!

"Eugene is so capable, talented and amazing! He single handedly put all of our furniture out of the way so he can start installing our floor. He removed the toilet to install the floor and FIX OUR TOILET! He then removed our refrigerator, range, and dishwasher ALL BY HIMSELF!! He originally told me he would have my floor done in 5 days but finished in 3 days. Before he left I asked him to give me an estimate for our carpeted area. We will have him install our carpet next. We requested some little things he even went right to Home Depot to help us finish the job. I will highly recommend using Flooring Pro Inc. There are only 5 stars on the review, I would give him 10 stars if I could."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Spring and fall are the best seasons for installing carpet. Both seasons benefit from moderate temperatures and low humidity levels, which can help the carpet acclimate to the room and settle properly once installed. However, installing carpet during the winter months could result in lower costs, as demand for this service is low.

A transition piece between carpet stairs and wood flooring isn't always necessary. A transition piece separates two types of flooring in between rooms and areas, like carpet and vinyl. Because the carpet on the stairs tucks into the seam, you can’t see the fringes, and there is no need to hide anything. However, you can use a stair cap if your stairs have a nose.

While it is possible to install carpet yourself, it is a challenging DIY project that requires precise measurement, proper cutting skills, and knowledge of correct installation techniques. The process involves multiple steps, including removing old flooring, installing underlayment and tack strips, and stretching the carpet to prevent wrinkles, which can take several days to complete.

Before starting, consider these factors:

  • Warranty: Many manufacturers' warranties are voided if the carpet is not installed by a professional.

  • Tools: You will need to buy or rent specialized equipment like a knee kicker, carpet stretcher, and seam roller.

  • Complexity: DIY installation is most suitable for simple, straightforward rooms. Projects involving stairs or floor vents are significantly more difficult.

  • Cost: While you can save on labor, the cost of tools plus the risk of expensive mistakes—which may require re-installation—can make hiring a professional more cost-effective in the long run.

Given the potential for errors, voided warranties, and the need for special tools, hiring a local carpet installer is often recommended to ensure the job is done correctly and safely.

If the installer is unwilling to fix the problems and you’re not interested in seeking remediation, you could hide a visually unpleasant floor. This will only work if the floor is structurally sound and the only issue you have is the way it looks. The easiest way to do this is to use large area rugs. You can also paint the floor, although that’s a labor-intensive job if you want to go the DIY route.

In most cases, you do not need to put padding or underlayment under carpet tiles. Unlike traditional carpet, which requires a separate pad, carpet tiles are designed to be installed directly onto a firm subfloor like plywood, concrete, or tile. Many carpet tiles come with a built-in underlay and attach with peel-and-stick adhesive, double-sided carpet tape, or glue. For a more comfortable, cushioned feel, especially in residential settings, you can opt for padded carpet tiles that have a thicker underlay attached. While it's generally not recommended to install a separate pad, a compact underlayment might be used in some situations, though this typically requires professional installation. An acoustic underlay may also be considered in commercial spaces or multi-level homes where noise reduction is a priority.
