Gave me options for rock, paver, and concrete. We chose rock for aesthetics and price. He came back about 3 weeks later on a particularly soggy November day. He and his workman worked all day long building the retaining wall. As it was progressing, I asked for a small change in the shape, and they accommodated this readily. I think they came back a day or two later to finish things up. I paid extra to have them backfill the top of the wall with extra dirt to make room for a planting bed; he recommended a dirt with more sand in it to help with drainage, and I deferred to his experience. However, it appears to me he used only sand, and didn't backfill nearly the whole area I had in mind. Perhaps this was a communication breakdown, but it's not what I wanted, and I'm going to have to do some work to make it look better and get it ready for planting. The overall quality of the wall is decent. It's straight and feels like it'll hold up for a number of years, but the top finish rocks seemed haphazardly placed, and I spend an hour or two afterward rearranging the top row to make it look more finished. We have other rock walls done on our property that cost a good deal more, and look a lot better, but this wall is mostly utilitarian and suits our needs adequately. I had a much better service experience at Lowe's but it came down to a significant price difference between the two companies. I woke to a broken hot water heater and instantly began doing online searches for replacement water heaters, pricing and installations. Home Depot touts same day installation if you call by noon. I called around 9:30am to several companies to ensure that they had the heaters in stock and could indeed deliver today. I called Home Depot 3 times because each time I was transferred to the water heater department no one picked up. In between I had gotten through to a competitor. They were extremely helpful in giving me pricing, calling to confirm delivery that day etc. However when they proactively called back to let me know when the entered all the info in their system the installation was over $100 more than they had quoted me. That is when I called Home Depot back a 3rd time. I reached a gentleman in the water heater department. I asked if they had heaters, he said yes they had them in stock. When I asked about delivery and cost he said, and quot;oh gee, um, I don't know, I really wouldn't have any ideaand quot; He said that if I logged into the website there was an 800 number I could call to find that information out. He couldn't even be bothered to give me the number. Being desperate, I looked up and called the 800 number. The installation group, Fast Water Heaters, I want to stress was great! They could not get the heater installed the same day, despite Home Depots claim of same day installation if ordered by noon (it was now 10:15am). But they were highly rated on Angie's list and even honored the Angie's List coupon on the order. They (Fast) set up an appt for the next day. The installer was about an hour late due to a company meeting, but called and kept me informed. He was courteous and friendly. He wasn't pushy with some upgrade offers and cleaned up his work afterwards. I highly recommend Fast for your plumbing and water heater needs, but Home Depot needs to work on their customer service! It made me anxious that Auto Mentors would be pushy and smarmy like a lot of dealerships. Dale called me back speedily and was very helpful in explaining how they got cars from dealers with extra inventory etc. They had a vehicle in stock that would meet the needs of loan requirements. It was a newer vehicle than I anticipated. Dale was very accommodating with test drives, making sure the vehicle was cleaned and in good condition before delivery, gave me a thorough review of how the vehicle operated (it's a hybrid) and tips. I never felt pressured. They were very easy to work with and made me feel comfortable as a purchaser. They are super conscientious and absolutely do what they say. Most of what they have done has been in my family home and they are really great about trying to minimize the impact of the project on the family. They always bring their own port a potty so they don't bother us. They are really good about sealing off the area where they work to prevent dust and noise getting in the rest of their house so this is the first thing that they always do. They are super conscientious about environmental things, whether it is lead paint or sanding dust or using low emission paints and stuff like that. They take a level of care about the details that I have never seen with anybody else. They always have small little ideas on how to make something better; they always ask me if it is okay if we do this, we think it would work better with the pieces you have in this room and they have never charged me extra for it. I will use them again in the future.

FAQs for sand and rock delivery projects in North Bend, OR
Topsoil costs from $12 to $55 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. For example, screened black dirt will cost about $15 per cubic yard. Loam (soil composed of sand, silt, and clay) costs about $17 per cubic yard. Standard screened topsoil costs about $20 per cubic yard. The type of topsoil you need depends on your landscaping plans.
The average cost to mow a lawn is about $125, ranging between $50 and $200 per cutting, depending on yard size. Other cost factors include the shape of your lawn, accessibility, lawn health, type of grass, length of grass, and frequency of the mowing schedule. The cost to cut your grass will also vary depending on where you live. If your landscaper has to maneuver around obstacles or deal with hard to reach areas and steep slopes, this will likely increase your total mowing costs.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Mulch costs anywhere from $30 to $150 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. On the inexpensive end, red and black mulch are about $35 to $40 per cubic yard, and are typically made from recycled waste wood like shredded old pallets or deck material. Cedar, cypress, and rubber mulch cost anywhere from $100 to $120 per cubic yard. A pro can help you determine the type of mulch most suitable for your landscaping needs.
The cost of a paver patio is $3,800 for a 280-square-foot patio on average. Depending on the patio size, paver material, and design complexity, this cost can range from $2,400 to $7,000 or more.
The size of your patio is a significant factor in the project’s overall cost. If you're building a smaller patio of only 60 square feet, your costs will be closer to $480 to $1,500. If you want a more luxurious 900-square-foot patio, you'll spend closer to $7,200 to $22,500.
