"About a week ago my six year old daughter got sick all over our couch. My wife and I tried everything to get rid of that smell. But nothing worked. We had even resorted to shopping for a new couch. Then we called Oscar at Perter Herman Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning. He managed to completely clean and sanitize our couch, leaving no trace of that "sickly odor". He even made our old (really old) dingy carpets look a great again. My thanks to Oscar and his son. Thay did a wonderful job."

"The service went well. They were able to clean the parts of the home I needed cleaned within the 4 hour time frame. Two people came out for the service and brought their own cleaning supplies. The vacuum they did use did not clean the rugs very well. They did have to come out quite a way to get to me so I would not hire them again because of how much the travel fee would be. They did fine work and I had no problem scheduling the service."

"The seam on my sofa cushion was loose, was unraveling and looked awful! I called Nationwide Furniture and the technician had me text photos for a free estimate. Marcelo called me and made an appointment for the same week. It took him about 30 minutes and he got the sofa cushion seam repaired and looking good again. Definitely recommend them!"

Couch Cleaning Services questions, answered by experts

Avoiding regular HVAC maintenance can lead to significant problems and higher costs over time. Without proper care, your system has to work harder, resulting in increased wear and tear, reduced performance, and more frequent breakdowns. This inefficiency leads to higher energy bills as the system consumes more energy to heat or cool your home.

Key components like condensate lines, evaporator coils, and motors require regular cleaning and lubrication to function correctly. Neglecting these tasks can lead to critical problems and costly repairs. Over time, unattended issues can cause permanent damage, potentially requiring you to replace the entire unit much sooner than expected. Additionally, skipping maintenance can negatively impact your indoor air quality.

Most HVAC service calls include diagnostic fees, which could include checking on a specific issue you’re experiencing or running through a routine inspection checklist. If you called for a particular problem, the service call will also include an estimate to fix the issue, including materials and labor. Depending on your HVAC technician and the service you requested, you might also get a general inspection of your system components to ensure everything is working as intended.

While you can run your HVAC system without an air filter, it isn’t something professionals recommend—especially not for an extended period. It can reduce indoor air quality, clog air ducts, and strain your system. This can lead to performance issues, higher energy bills, costly repairs, and a reduction in the system's lifespan.

For washable or electrostatic air conditioner filters, you can soak and rinse them with water. If you rinse the filter with water, make sure to use a faucet, shower head, or garden hose with a gentle water pressure setting, as strong water pressure could damage the filter.

But for disposable filters, water could ruin the filter, even allowing mold to grow in the filter. Instead, these filters should be replaced.

The lifespan of a whole-house air purifier or filtration system depends on several factors, but with proper maintenance, they are built to last. A whole-house system that integrates with your home's ductwork can last 10 to 15 years, or even for the entire lifetime of your existing HVAC system. To maximize the unit's lifespan, perform regular cleanings, change filters as recommended, and schedule an annual inspection to catch potential issues early. The system's longevity also depends on its frequency of use and how hard it must work to maintain your desired air quality. For comparison, smaller, portable air filter systems typically last between five and ten years.
