"Found water under the house. Called them after looking for a plumber on Angie's List. Tammy answered the phone right away and was very nice. She sent Ryan over to help find and fix the problem. Ryan was great! He located the problem and started right away. Working for hours in high 90 degree weather and he was still a happy guy. That guys a keeper! We are back up and running and so glad we chose this company! I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them! Small business is important because they care and these guys show it.

"Not good. The water leaks had caused black mold that had to be repaired. When repairs were completed 3 months later, the valves still leaked from the stem when turned on. It was past 60 days so I had to pay another $100 service fee to have the water leaks fixed. He tightened the packing and quoted $350 to replace the valves. Sheesh."

"The work was done on-time and within budget.  It has continued to function well.  John has come out at yearly intervals to service it.  This was a relatively complicated job which required extra plumbing, since an existing pressure tank and water softener had to be removed from a small, awkward space.  John seems very knowledgeable and professional.

"Doug was great. As the new homeowner he told me his company installed the well, even remembered the water quality report and asked me about drinking water filtration (rogue valley has natural arsenic) His service guy was out within a hour and replaced a transducer (on-off switch) and the blow off valve. Then told me no charge have a nice day. This company backs its work. Which is rare nowdays."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

No. You should never directly drain a water softener into a sewer cleanout. This practice is illegal in many areas because it could allow raw sewage to get into your drinking water and make you seriously ill. Many places have codes requiring a specific seal, pipe, and a large air gap between a water softener and a sewage cleanout. Check out Florida's Plumbing Building Code as an example of what these restrictions might look like.

The main difference between a water softener and a water filter is what they remove from the water. A water softener is specifically designed to remove hard minerals, while a filter removes a wider range of contaminants above a certain size, such as bacteria and other impurities. If your primary goal is to remove minerals, a softener is the best choice. If you want to remove various contaminants for safety or taste, a filter is more suitable. Filters are also typically less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply's specific issues, you may need to install both systems for comprehensive treatment.

A lower-end water softener would cost around $900, not including installation. Each home has different requirements, water hardness, and number of inhabitants, so there’s a huge range in pricing—$600 to over $6,000. The average water softener repair bill is around $500, meaning it’s a much better option to repair any issues and only replace your softener if absolutely necessary.

Routine maintenance involves recharging the resin bed with salt or potassium, cleaning components, and periodic inspection.

Hard water stains can be a headache because they will reoccur as long as hard water flows through. Thankfully, hard water stains are not permanent. With the right tools and an appropriate cleaning routine, you can prevent hard water stains from ever building up. However, you might feel like you are stuck in a constant cleaning cycle. In that case, you may consider hiring a contractor to perform routine cleaning.
