"They installed a short retaining wall around the front of my yard. They also added top soil to level the yard. The wall looks great. They were easy to work with and very professional. I would hire them again."

"I live in Cave Junction, Oregon and chose Element Landscape and Irrigation out of 3 estimates to perform a removal and replacement of sod in my backyard - about 1900 square feet. From the beginning, when he came out to estimate the project, Ahisar was professional and explained exactly what he would do. When we started the project, he and his fellow landscape professional went to work and I was impressed with their work ethic and the meticulous way that they performed each step in the process. These people are hard workers and really do care about installing a lawn you can be proud of. I am very satisfied with the project and I am happy to recommend this company."

"We hired Block by Nick to install a retaining wall and fire pit in our back yard. We were impressed by Nicks knowledge and work ethic, wowed by how great the finished wall looked. We decided to have him come back and extend the retaining wall another 50 around the side yard, and install a tree ring in the front yard. We absolutely know his work has raised the value of our home, and increased our enjoyment of our yards!"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

One of the best ways to know your chimney is good to go on any given night is to simply look up into your flue with a flashlight. If you see a thick buildup of creosote—a shiny, dark substance that looks like tar—it’s best to have your fireplace professionally cleaned before you go ahead with the burn. Additionally, having your fireplace professionally inspected once per year can also help increase your peace of mind and keep your family and your home safe.

A spark arrestor is a simple metal mesh device that prevents flammable particles from escaping from a combustion source and causing a fire. You typically find these attached to gas or diesel engines on things like cars, generators, and garden tools (lawnmowers, chainsaws, etc.). Fireplace or wood-burning stove chimneys also have spark arrestors attached to or sitting under the chimney cap to capture burning embers.

In most cases, having a fire hydrant installed on your property, whether it’s maintained by you personally or your municipality, will reduce your insurance premiums. Its proximity to any buildings on the property will reduce the time it takes to put out a fire, thus reducing the resulting damage.

In some cases, you can use a fireplace once the insert has been removed. However, before burning a fire, you must have a professional inspect it and the chimney to make sure they're functioning properly and no damage has occurred from removing the insert. That’s because using a fireplace without an insert could create fire hazards due to issues with airflow and heat dispersion, depending on the fireplace design and material. A professional can advise on whether you should make certain repairs or modifications before using your fireplace as an open hearth.

Yes, it is possible. An electrical fire can break out if the compressor has inadequate ventilation. When it overheats but doesn't have a proper thermal cutout, this can cause the motor to short-circuit and catch fire. This risk is exacerbated if flammable materials, like dust and fallen leaves, are clogging the unit. The compressor overheating won't start a fire by itself, but poor maintenance and installation can increase the risk once it hits its breaking point and short-circuits.
