Asbestos Building Inspection and Project Design Services, and AIR MONITOR/Air Clearance Technician/Phase Contrast Microscopy: NIOSH-582 Technician who provides "Independent 3rd Party Verification" as required by law for Asbestos Abatement Projects. I "conduct third pary "check and balance" verification that asbestos abatement area is "safe" for re-occupancy. This is a requirement , by law, if room or area is to be reoccupied after abatement--as opposed to being hauled off to dump. Certain laws require that a certified Asbestos Building Inspector, survey, sample and identify asbestos containing materials BEFORE a demolition or renovation project begins and obviously BEFORE workers or occupants get exposed to ASBESTOS DUST. Get me involved in the process BEFORE the hammers fly and my services will protect occupants from exposure to asbestos dust. PRE-DEMOLITION ASBESTOS SURVEYS: I identify what materials contain asbestos. I can then guide you regarding regulations and liabilities. Knowledge is power: if we can identify materials before they are disturbed, then we have the option to adjust plans to avoid disturbance ( i.e. "encapsulate" versus "abate"--going over the top of "hot" vinyl flooring with one more course of thin underlayment, e.g.). AT ALL TIMES: it is far better to KNOW if your sheetrock, vinyl flooring, wall paper, floor tile or carpet adhesive and rubber backing has asbestos in it, than to create an exposure event, get "caught" at the dump and then have to pay for an emergency clean up. DEQ Enforcement fines can be substantial--$8,000 to $25,000 fines are very recent numbers for residential projects, which involved very small amounts of material, but were mishandled. I sample for asbestos and can provide you information that can then be used in DUE DILIGENCE efforts, or can be useful in PROJECT SCOPE DETERMINATION. PROTECT your family, protect your Contractor, protect their families, too. Abide by regulations and avoid liability issues which can linger for three decades after-the-fact. FIND OUT BEFORE YOU HAVE TO ; "Check it before you Wreck it". I perform AIR SAMPLING and PHASE CONTRAST MICROSCOPY SERVICES, " NIOSH-582" I have over 24 years as a Remodeling Contractor which translates into an extremely effective surveyor who doesn't miss anything.

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

The type of flooring you choose for your bedroom comes down to personal preference. Many people prefer carpet over hard-surface flooring types (such as hardwood, tile, or stone) in their bedrooms because it’s warmer and cozier. Carpeting also helps muffle sound, which may benefit those who have trouble sleeping.

On the other hand, some folks prefer the look of hardwood over carpet. People with allergies might also opt for non-carpeted flooring since carpet fibers can attract dust, dander, and other allergens.

The best underlayment for carpet on concrete is a sponge rubber underlayment. This type of carpet padding is durable enough to endure wear and tear on hard concrete yet soft enough to provide comfort underfoot. It also creates insulation from sound and temperature, providing warmth despite the concrete’s cold surface.

When choosing whether to install carpet in your home, consider the pros and cons of this change:

Pros

  • More affordable than laminate flooring

  • Gives the room a warmer feel

  • Softer on feet

  • Wide variety of textures and colors

  • Hides dirt easily

  • Faster and easier to install

Cons

  • Shows wear and tear more quickly than laminate flooring

  • Shows stains

  • Soaks up liquids

  • May not work well in some areas, such as a bathroom

  • Less durable than laminate flooring

  • Susceptible to water damage, mold, and mildew

Carpet density refers to how closely together the fibers of a carpet are stitched into the carpet backing, with values ranging from 1,000 to 7,000. A carpet density value of 3,000 or higher is considered best for most homes, especially in high-traffic areas, such as a living room or dining room. If you’re comparing two carpets made of the same material, a higher carpet density can indicate better durability and longevity. However, carpet density is only one of many factors that can help you determine a carpet’s quality.

There are several types of flooring you can install over ceramic tile, including vinyl, laminate, engineered wood, carpet, and cork. Alternatively, you could install new tiles on top of your current ones if you enjoy having tile floors but don’t like the look of your existing tiles. However, before laying down new flooring, you’ll need to make sure that your tiles are in good condition. Otherwise, you’ll need to remove them first.
