"Derek, of Green Hills Construction was was over within days to evaluate my bathroom remodel. He was able to â squeezeâ my smaller job in between big jobs and it was a â GOâ within a week and a half. He talked me through the process of gutting my bathroom in my little 100 yr old house. He gave several suggested model ideas and helped me maneuver through the best choices for me. My bathroom was completed in just over 4 days. Derek and his team, Joe and Mitch, installed a new walk in shower, replaced walls, all new fixtures, new sink, new floor, and new paint. Derek and his team were strictly professional, easy to talk with, answering all my questions and on time everyday. They kept communication open between themselves and me, always asking questions about what â I wantedâ and how it would be done. When leaving for the day, everything was cleaned up and vacuumed even the garage. They were polite, full of smiles, and so easy to talk to. These men are â top rateâ professionals and hard working. I will be asking them in the future for any other work I would need done. I couldnâ t be happier with their work and results! Thank you Green Hills Construction from my 100 year old â Little Blue House on the Cornerâ for making her bathroom usable and beautiful once again! Thank you for your guidance, expert opinions and skills to complete my bathroom project from beginning to end. You have transformed my bathroom into a beautiful modern space."

"I hired Pacific Floors to refinish my hardwood floor damaged by dogs and to re-tile master bathroom. My floor now looks better than when we bought the house and master bathroom is simply amazing. They did the job on time, left no trash behind and didn’t break the bank. Definitely a positive experience overall."

"NW Builders & Renovation gets my highest rating. Max M coordinated my roofing job and was very profession, personable, with great attention to detail. Max was willing to hear me, address my needs, and come up with best solutions. I also want to mention the crew. They did a wonderful job, they were respectful of my home, tidied up every day, left the job site very clean, and were also respectful of my neighbors. NW Builders is a company that stand behind their product and work. They show pride in their work from start to finish, and beyond. They offer quality products and workmanship with an exceptional outcome. My roof is beautiful. I'm confident it is installed to last. I am a very happy customer and I highly recommend NW Builders & Renovation."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Most DIYers can learn how to remove carpet although it’s time and labor-intensive. However, if you have glued-down carpet and are concerned about damaging the substrate below, it's best to call a professional carpet remover. Also, removing glue-down carpet is more work than dealing with wall-to-wall carpet because you have to get rid of all traces of the adhesive from your subfloor to prepare it for a new installation.

If you want your carpet to last as long as possible, then yes, you need to install carpet padding. Carpet padding creates a layer of protection between the back of your carpet and the floor beneath it, which decreases friction and reduces wear and tear. Aside from that, carpet padding also helps absorb noise and makes your carpet feel more comfortable underfoot.

You can tell a carpet is good quality if it’s made of a soft, durable material and has a good face weight and density. When comparing two similar carpets, the higher the face weight, the more durable the carpet tends to be. The same goes for carpet density. A higher density of two similar carpets often indicates better quality. The ideal carpet face weight and density values depend on the carpet material and type.

It’s a good idea to install a rug pad under the carpet for your stairs. To make the pad fit, you’ll need to cut one section for each stair tread that’s about one inch narrower than the stair runner so that it won’t be visible once the carpet is installed on top.

The difference between a 40-oz. and 60-oz. carpet is the carpet face weight, meaning the 60-oz. carpet weighs 20 ounces more per square yard. When looking at two similar carpets of the same material and type, the 60-oz. carpet face weight likely indicates higher quality and more durability due to heavier carpet fibers.
