Small jobs welcome

"Excellent work! I reached out on Sunday afternoon through Angie’s list to get a quote. The owner called me within five minutes and actually came out within 30 minutes and looked at the job and gave me an estimate before he left. I was completely surprised. Even more surprising given how difficult it is to get people to follow through. He showed up the next day with his crew. All the materials did an excellent job and was finished by noon and left the building site spotless. His quote was very competitive. He showed up as promised and entirely fashion and delivered an excellent in product. I will definitely be using this Contractor again going forward six out of five star stars!!!!"

"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

"Chad and company were responsive and performed the work well. There were several changes that we wanted, and they took the challenge and exceeded expectations. I would highly recommend Ironwood for the next cabinet or shelving project."

Closets questions, answered by experts

Plywood, MDF (medium-density fiberboard), and solid wood are all popular options for closet shelving. Plywood and solid wood are sturdy and ideal for extended shelves or heavy items. MDF is a budget-friendly choice for light to moderate storage, but it can sag under heavy weight if not adequately supported. Wire shelving is another alternative that allows airflow, making it especially useful in humid spaces such as laundry rooms or basements.

A "reach-in pantry" is a smaller, cabinet-style pantry that allows you to grab items by simply reaching inside. On the other hand, a "walk-in pantry" is like a closet or small room that offers a larger space that you can physically enter to get your food. Walk-in pantries allow for more customizable shelving. A reach-in pantry is usually around 5 feet wide by 2 feet deep, while a walk-in pantry is closer to 5 feet by 5 feet or larger.

The features you choose for your laundry room to make it perfect depend largely on how you'll use the space, the size of your family, and their laundry needs. A perfect laundry room will have ample storage space, a clothes washer and dryer that are large enough for your needs and have good convenience features, and enough room to move around and work with enough countertop space to make laundry chores as easy as possible.

When storing your clothes long-term, first consider the container's breathability. While plastic bags, cardboard boxes, or vacuum sealing may be great options for short-term storage, they won’t help your clothes hold up in the long term. Breathable plastic boxes and fabric bags help with airflow, prevent mold or mildew from building up, and allow proper airflow.

The vertical space between closet shelves depends on what you're storing. For clothing like shirts and sweaters, 10 to 12 inches is enough. Towels and linens need 12 to 15 inches, while tall storage bins may require 18 inches or more. Overcrowding your shelves can reduce accessibility and increase clutter, so be sure to leave breathing room for your items.
