"The gentleman who came, called and was able to come a little early. He was only here a couple of hours and the door works good as new. He was very pleasant and professional. He really knew how to fix it correctly. We would use him on future fix-its for sure. Very good experience."

"Burnett has done outstanding work for us on several occasions, most recently installing new windows and a sliding glass door. Every facet of the job was excellent,  from the initial contact with their sales consultant, David Stackable, to the completion of the project. We could not be more pleased. Their office staff is very courteous and kept us well informed; their team of installers is friendly, courteous, prompt, efficient and neat. The door and windows are very high quality products.  We would not hesitate to have them do any work for us in the future.

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"He surprisingly provides excellent handyman work as well. Most recently, he's built a wall, shoveled snow and installed new tile flooring. He was able to get the tile at a discounted rate which was much appreciated. He can do just about anything you need. He is just an amazing man to work with! Very pleasant, punctual, and reasonably priced! I can't recommend Judd highly enough! I can now consider him a friend."

Doors questions, answered by experts

Pocket and standard doors are similar in price, but pocket doors cost more to install than standard doors. Professionals usually charge around $150 to $200 to hang a standard door. But if you're installing a pocket door on an existing wall, you'll likely pay between $1,000 and $3,500

Yes, but adding a deadbolt to some door materials, like steel, may make installation a little bit trickier. For these materials, you will want to hire a locksmith to do the work for you, but be aware that they may charge an additional fee of $25 to $50 or more.

The vast majority of hinges are symmetrical, and either side of the hinge can go on the door or the frame. Occasionally, you'll find a hinge specifically made for right or left-handed doors with different attachment hardware or larger plates on one side. In most cases, the large side of the hinge goes on the frame.

It is possible to install hinges backward, so be careful when placing them. Position the hinge so that the hinge pin faces the direction the door will swing. For example, if you're standing on the side the door will open into, the pin should be visible. Be extra careful when installing exterior doors, as placing the hinges on the outside for an outward-facing door makes your home much easier to break into.

You don’t need to have a door at the top of basement stairs, but having one is usually a good idea. Not only will the door block the view of the basement, which might serve as a play area or less appealing workout space, but it can also prevent children or pets from going downstairs, as well as accidental falls.

Most bedroom doors are 30, 32, or 36 inches wide and about 80 inches tall, depending on the size of the room, the height of the ceiling, and any special accommodations that may be necessary for the bedroom’s occupant. The size of your bedroom door may be larger than average if it leads into a very large bedroom or a home with unique wall or ceiling features.
