"I highly recommend this company! Very professional, honest, and hardworking crew. Everything was clean and well organized, and the job was done right the first time. My shower turned out beautiful?I couldn?t have asked for more. He even offered great ideas on design, color, and tile choices that really elevated the final look. Very easy to work with and a great overall experience. (My whole bathroom was redone by this company went from an ugly tub to this.)"

"Installers showed up on the day they were scheduled. But they did not finish the job. Additional workers came the next day to finish installing the floor. They moved all furniture and re-positioned it where I wanted it. They even installed new toilets at no extra cost to me. I will call them again if I need work on my outside porch."

"I honestly can’t recommend RTA enough. From start to finish, the entire bathroom remodel process was smooth, professional, and way beyond what I expected. The attention to detail was incredible, everything from the tile work to the finishes came out absolutely perfect. I could tell they really cared about their work. Even with design changes I had during the process, they were very patient with me and did everything they could to carry out my requests. 10/10 would recommend."

"Benjamin was very knowledgeable regarding sanitizing and drying out my floors and walls. I ended up having a remodel of my bathroom which included new floor tile, paint, a tile backsplash around my tub, and he framed the builder grade mirror over my vanity. I absolutely love how it turned out. He was very professional and the prices were reasonable. I will be using his services again for other projects around my home."

"Hired this company to re-tile my shower floor. He was very prompt about calling and scheduling the job. He was scheduled to start at 8am. Around 8:30am I received a phone call at 8:30 saying he just got up and would be late. He showed up with his crew around 10:30am and started the job. He informed me that the person doing the job had 30 years experience doing tile work. The work was completed late that same day. After they left I could see that the grout was still not completely washed off the new tiles and the some of the cuts look very uneven. So I let the shower sit for two days. I then had to spend about 45 minutes scrubbing dried grout off 30% of the tiles. Once I was done I noticed what an amateurish job the installer had done. It looked like a bad do-it-yourself project. The original layout of the tile, which had a slight pattern, was not centered on the floor. The tile cuts along the back, where he finished, left a 1/4-1/2 gap filled with grout. The cuts along the back wall are not even. I called Larry and expressed my displeasure with the work. He was very surprised and agina express all the years of experience his installer has. To be fair I asked Larry to come look at the work done and form his own opinion. He informed me that he was tied up for the next couple of days, but could come by around the end of the week. Well it has been two weeks and I have had no contact from Larry. I had decided up front to give him time to deal with this issue before I would write any type of review, time is up! If you are looking for okay work by a somewhat reliable company, hire Larry. If you are needing quality work by a professional company choose someone else."

"Two of them came out. There was a long list and we were happy to pay more, but I was not pleased when I got home. I wanted the caulking in the shower redone and they did not get to that. There is a gate in a storage thing out in the side yard and the door needed patching. I just did not like coming home. I felt like they rushed and just did not get it all done or even attempted to get it done. The price was not the issue. I just wanted those things done. With two of them here, I felt like they could have done more."

"For the price that we paid, I feel that we received a good value. The work was done well and in a somewhat timely manner. There was a delay when the painter had to leave town due to illness in the family. This was unavoidable and Roger communicated with us throughout. Roger's employees are true artist. They came up with affordable solutions for some issues that we had. There are a few places that the paint work was a little sloppy, but considering that we paid about 20% less than the next lowest estimate, we can't complain. The reason that we won't use this company again? The valve that supplies water to our dishwasher broke off during a day early on in the remodel. This was no fault of the crew, just an old valve. The problem is that no one told us this had happened. We turned our dishwasher on and left and when we came back, everything inside, including the end of one of the washer "blades" had melted. I called Roger and we agreed that we would pay to fix the valve and he would pay to replace the damaged dishwasher "blade". He advised me that he had ordered the part, which I had researched and knew to cost around $90. Three weeks later, he said that the part still had not come in. I advised him that I would like to withhold the $125 balance for the completed job until the part was installed. He agreed that was fair. It is 2 months later and we never heard back from Roger about the replacement part. Not only has he not called us, but he has ignored the 2 times that I attempted to contact him to ask about the part. This is extremely unprofessional. If not for that one thing, I would definitely hire him in the future. It's a shame that he ended our contact this way.

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

You should always use caulk instead of grout where the tile meets the wall. This will help your tile installation look great and last a long time. When you accidentally use grout for the corner seams, you end up making the tiles too rigid. So as the wall shifts over time, your tiles have no wiggle room. This can lead to tile damage, which will eventually require you to do at least a partial reinstallation.

Grout lines should typically be between 1/8 to 3/16 inch thick. This ensures enough room for the grout to dry properly and makes them wide enough to look clean and professional. If grout lines are too small, it can be easier to see imperfections in the spacing.

You can use sanded or unsanded grout for a shower pan, but sanded grout isn’t the best option for shower walls. For those areas, you’ll want to use unsanded grout, which works well on vertical surfaces and is less likely to slump than sanded grout. Alternatively, you can use epoxy grout for shower walls.

Yes, it’s always a good idea to keep a box or two of spare tiles after a home renovation project. Tiles can crack from improper installation, heavy foot traffic, and impact from drops. Having some extra tile on hand can make replacement fast, easy, and affordable. Plus, some manufacturers might discontinue particular colors or styles, and slight variations in tile colors between batches could mean mismatched tiles even if your product isn’t discontinued. Having a few spare tiles in storage can help avoid these issues, as well.

Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.
