The biggest sign that your flange leaks is if you notice water at the base of the toilet. The cause is likely due to a poor flange installation, so you might have issues with loose bolts, an uneven flange, or a cracked plastic flange. After about 15 minutes, you can flush the drain with hot water. In many cases, these materials can scrub out minor clogs and get the drain working properly again. If the issue persists, call in a plumber near you to get the problem permanently fixed.

While you can hire any plumber to complete this task, you may consider hiring a natural gas line plumber who specializes in moving gas lines. They’ll have extensive experience completing similar projects.

Under normal circumstances, you don’t need to turn interior water off if it’s cold outside. But if you plan to be away during cold weather for more than a day, turning off the water can help prevent freezing and burst pipes. If you lose heat, turning off the water can help to keep pipes from freezing as well. You should turn off exterior pipes for sprinklers or outdoor irrigation for the season once temperatures begin to fall in the late fall and early winter.
