"I had completed the same repair on my previous house in the past and it was a simple process. I expected the replacement kit would cost about $20-$40. I was told by their office when I made the appointment that I would be told of any other repairs needed before work was commenced. They replaced the toilet bowl kit and also a short water hose leading into the water tank without talking to me. The total cost over $260 for what I thought would be a simple project. I feel taken advantage of."

"From start to finish Groundworks has been a great company to work with!! Jose and Jeremiah just finished up the Poly Renewal and Darlin, Tyler and Carlos did an excellent job installing the AquaStop Gutter system. All the employees were informed, professional and easy to talk with including Natasha the scheduler. I highly recommend this company."

"First I was told it would be $90 when I called for the appt... After the work was done I find out it's $150 when they have to get on the roof.  While they were running the snake thru the pipes from the roof, my whole bathroom wall was shaking inside and now I have a water leak in my bath tub that wasn't there before.  Stated I have a break in my sewer line, but could not get a price for repair or replacement... everytime he opened his mouth, the price was different.

"Josh came out and gave me an estimate, walked me through the basics (connecting to the main water line, backflow preventer / city permit / inspection needed, zoning for specific areas). Once I chose to go with them, Chuck came out and marked the zones with flags the night before the team came to start the work. They arrived early, right when they said, and got right at it. They completed pretty much all of the major work in a day (all the zones and controller set up), leaving only the main run from the water pipe to the backflow preventer uncovered for the city to inspect. The workers did an excellent job of cleaning up after doing the work, and while there are scars in the yard where they did the trenching for the pipes, they're not particularly large, and should fill back in quickly. The next day, after inspection was complete, they finished filling in the remaining trenches. And the following day, Chuck came out to verify that the work was satisfactory, which it was. After setting up the controller (wifi), and running the system for a bit, I noticed that one of the sprinkler heads was leaking slightly, called Josh and he came out to take a look. Turns out it was just a loose bleeder valve, and while he was there, he adjusted one head that was really only watering the garden bed edging and got that pointed in the right direction. Both Chuck and Josh were great to work with, I would be happy to work with them again, if needed."

"Had three contractors bid the job, chose AIR Roofing above the others. I was very satisfied with the quality of the materials used, the installation crews attention to detail, the price, responsiveness and overall quality of the job."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

For homes with a septic tank, harsh chemicals like those found in drain cleaner or bleach aren’t recommended. Some chemical drain cleaners can disrupt the balance of bacteria in the septic tank or damage your pipes. For homes with a septic tank, you can choose drain cleaners specifically formulated for use with septic tanks or go with a drain snake. When in doubt, make sure you know who to call for a clogged drain

A saturated leach field can result from various underlying issues, so it's best to call a professional septic company to diagnose and treat the problem. Depending on the cause of the saturation, potential fixes include pumping out a full septic tank, adding more bacteria to the tank, or regrading the soil to fix low spots. It may also be necessary to reroute rainwater and runoff away from the leach field using gutters, downspouts, and extenders. Once the primary issue is resolved, planting specific types of vegetation over the area can help absorb excess water. In more severe cases, you might need to install a larger septic tank or replace the leach field entirely.

A clogged air gap can cause a dishwasher not to drain. There are, however, other potential issues that can lead to improper drainage. For example, if you have attached the air gap to a garbage disposal and forgotten to remove the knockout plug, wastewater may backflow into the dishwasher. Check that the air gap is installed properly, and then look for clogs in the air gap and dishwasher filters.

Boiling water helps unclog a drain, but usually only with a harder abrasive such as baking soda or vinegar. On its own, it isn’t the most effective tool. In addition, you shouldn’t use boiling water if you have PVC pipes, as it can soften or melt them. Use a plunger or enlist the help of a pro if you have plastic pipes.

Yes, continuing to flush a clogged toilet is not likely to break up the clog. Instead, it will continue to put pressure on the clog while filling the bowl with more water, which can potentially cause the toilet to overflow—leading to an even bigger mess. Rather than repeatedly flushing, use a toilet plunger or plumber’s snake to dislodge the clog.
