"Mike is a great handyman that I use for almost anything that comes up at my rental property in Lawton, OK. Anytime my tenant notifies me of a necessary repair, I check with Mike first to see if he is available and he usually is able to assist very quickly with whatever needs fixing. He has fixed leaky roof (and repaired the damage that resulted to the interior ceiling from the leak). He has fixed fraying carpet and painted trim on the house as well as variety of other repairs."

"These guys are very professional. They offer premium work on a professional level. Their communication was great and they were on time and I can't believe the work they performed. They widened two doorways, installed a vanity, and repaired my front door making it so much easier to get my power chair outside. I highly recommend Russell and Samson for all your work. They installed a door lock and a deadbolt on my front door both use just one key. They are friendly and down to earth. The work only took two days and they cleaned everything up after they finished. "It went okay. I was not all that impressed with him. I wanted him to come out and do some stuff on some baseboards in the house but he was not able to do that. He ended up working on some other things but I forgot what they were. I will never use them again. He said he would give me a quote on a backdoor but he never followed up."

When choosing a door for the space between your garage and house, steel is your best bet for fire safety. While wood—and sometimes glass—doors are common, they have lower fire-ratings. Fire-rated steel doors can withstand flames for up to three hours—double what wood can manage (90 minutes). Glass, while non-combustible, can crack under extreme heat. Steel may cost more, but it also offers the best protection. Steel isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing choice, but as long as your door meets the International Residential Code (IRC) standards, it’ll do its job in protecting your family and home.

You can use any wood to make an interior door, provided it’s the right thickness. Common options for painted doors include pine or poplar for the stiles, rails, and mullions, and paint-grade plywood for the panels. You can also opt to make your own panels out of pine or poplar if you intend on staining the door instead. Opting for oak, maple, or another hardwood is another great option for a high-end door that will last for decades, but the wood will cost significantly more.

It’s possible to install a door yourself if the wall opening already exists, but the work is rather complicated, and a professional installation is usually well worth the investment. For your door to work and close properly, you’ll need to shim and level the door frame in your wall perfectly, which can be difficult. Additionally, we recommend you always hire a professional door installer to place an exterior door, as mistakes during the installation process can lead to poor security for your home.

Ideally, a gate should be able to swing both in and out. However, if it can only open in one direction, it is generally best for it to swing inward. This is often the safest option, especially for deck gates near steps, as you'll want the gate to swing away from the stairs. An inward swing also prevents the gate from opening into a public space, like a sidewalk, and can be more convenient when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.
