"The technician was exactly on time, friendly, courteous and professional. He did an excellent job of sweeping my chimney and cleaning the fire box. Absolutely no residue or dust was found. his inspection revealed some recommended repairs which he pointed out with detailed photos. No pressure what so ever to buy. We definitely needed some repairs and have a future appointment for them to come out and complete the work. I highly recommend EKLUND to anyone thinking of having their chimney serviced. I will definitely use them again when my chimney needs cleaning or service."

Small jobs welcome

"We were very pleased with the work the folks at AlphaLandworks did for us! It included a free estimate, grading a long steep drive and laying and packing crusher run gravel, grading a large yard and laying a bunch of sod. All in less than a week from the time found on Angi. They are so easy and honest to work with and reasonable price too. "

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

You can’t gauge the lifetime of a fire door like you could, say, an engine. Fire doors should be checked at least once every six months to ensure there are no signs of degradation like leaks, holes, water damage, termite damage, or anything else that might compromise the functionality of the door’s fire resistance. Check your smoke detectors while you’re at it.

Yes, it’s worth capping a chimney. Here are several reasons to install a chimney cap:

  • Keep out rain, snow, wildlife, and other debris

  • Help prevent chimney fires

  • Reduce your chimney’s exposure to moisture

  • Maintain your chimney flue liner

  • Help reduce energy bills by helping regulate your home’s temperature

A chimney liner isn’t required for an outdoor fireplace; you don’t technically need one if the masonry chimney uses the proper dimensions and is built to code. However, a chimney liner does serve as a protective coating for the flue. Adding a liner could improve performance, safety, and durability. In short, while not necessary, it wouldn’t hurt.

A home fire sprinkler system reduces heat, flames, and smoke within seconds. Fire sprinkler systems hide in walls with sprinkler heads running along the piping throughout your home.

When the air surrounding a sprinkler reaches a specific temperature, the heads closest to the fire activate and release anywhere from 10 to 25 gallons of water per minute.

You should never block both the top and bottom of your chimney. Proper airflow is essential because the temperature inside the chimney will still fluctuate as your house warms and cools. Moisture can build up without ventilation, leading to dampness in your walls over time. Blocking the top prevents debris and animals from entering, but the chimney still needs air circulation to avoid condensation issues. Allowing the chimney to breathe maintains the health of your home and prevents long-term damage.
