"Quality Roadway Paving made my drive way look so good!!! In less than 4 hours they moved stuff out of the way, leveled, oiled and smooth the rocks in my big drive way (2900 sq ft). "I was planning on sealing my driveway myself. I did my homework and realized it was beyond my abilities (I have a long driveway). Henry from RNH assessed my needs and made an offer that was very attractive. They started the project late on Saturday afternoon. The crew worked until it was too dark to see. They were almost finished so I approved their return on Monday. It was around noon Roger and Jay returned to do the detail work. They educated me on possible future issues and completed their work. Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

The most common causes of sunken pavers are poor base preparation and insufficient compaction. The problem could also be how your pavers were installed. If the soil beneath your patio or walkway wasn't compacted, it will pull pavers down as it settles. Additionally, using bare soil instead of making a paver bed with compacted gravel and sand can cause sinking over time. To fix sunken pavers, consider recompacting the base and addressing any drainage or erosion issues in the area.

The stones do not work well on uneven ground. If the stones are not buried into the ground and made level upon installation, they almost certainly will shift or crack on uneven ground. Additionally, rainwater or water from sprinklers can run under the edge of an uneven paver, causing erosion. In a freeze and thaw cycle, trapped water under the paver can cause the problem to worsen by shifting the stepping stones around. Use a bubble level to make sure the ground under each paver is as even as possible, even if the nearby ground is uneven.
