"We had a little difficulty with getting the work done at the scheduled time, but he did come the same day it was scheduled just several hours late because of some circumstances beyond his control (vehicle trouble which I completely understand happens sometimes). I was completely satisfied with the work and the price. This was my second opinion on a unit another company insisted needed to be replaced. This company just added a little Freon and it is working just fine again and charged me a very reasonable fee. I have found my new HVAC company from now on."

"Our air went out on a saturday afternoon at the worst possible time.  We tried getting a hold of a couple other companies and they
did not respond. we called chad's heat and air and they were here in less than a hour. he had the part on the truck to repair our unit, and didnt charge extra for being a weekend..

"I had an issue with my computer where it was opening lots of pop ups, ad bars, and windows with ads for games. I had tried several different programs to try to remove it with no luck. I finally decided to call North Alabama Technical Service to see if I he could help. I was expecting to set up a time for him to look at it but he connected to my computer immediately and within an hour had it fixed and running perfect again. Great service at a great price and I didn't even have to disconnect it and carry it somewhere! Would call again if I have another issue I can't resolve myself."

To reset your air conditioner, start by turning it off at the thermostat. Then, shut off power to the AC system at the circuit breaker. Some units have a dedicated "reset" button; if yours does, press and hold it for three to five seconds. If your air conditioner doesn't have a reset button, or if you are resetting it after a power outage, leave the circuit breaker off for at least 30 minutes to allow the system to reset itself. Afterward, turn the power back on at the breaker, turn on the AC from the thermostat, and set it to "cool" to test the system.

During the summer, it’s best to set your AC to 78 degrees when you’re home and awake, according to the Department of Energy (DOE). For better energy efficiency, raise the temperature slightly to 85 degrees while you’re out of the house. The National Sleep Foundation advises lowering your thermostat to between 60 and 67 degrees when you’re asleep.

When deciding whether to repair or replace your air conditioner, several factors should be considered. It is generally worth repairing the unit if it's less than 10 years old, the warranty is still active, and you're dealing with a one-off issue. Most central AC units last about 15 years, while window units last 8 to 10 years. If your unit is approaching or has surpassed the 10-year mark and requires frequent or costly repairs (e.g., over $5,000), replacement is often the more sensible long-term investment. For older, inefficient, or out-of-warranty units experiencing multiple problems, replacing it is typically the better choice.
