"Over 13 years ago J & V Roofing replaced our roof. After a tree fell on our house on 9/10/19, we needed a new roof. We did not hesitate to call J & V Roofing. Everything that this company does is done in excellence! John Valentino, the owner, is our go to person for any home remodeling or roofing that we need done. Yes, we would definitely recommend him & hire this company again!!"

"It went absolutely perfect. This is the second time I have used this company. The renovation was a bit stressful but Dennis and his crew were mindful of our two dogs and everything went smoothly. "The yard looks fabulous, the workers were professional and took extra care not to dump the mulch on my new driveway, all without me requesting that, which I really appreciated. It showed me that they were true professionals and care about their customers. The chimney repairs went equally well. The chimney looks great and they cleaned up after themselves really well."

"I found Ken Mills while I was working at a Doctors Office installing their IT infrastructure. I had seen him over the course of several days working with the countertops and cabinets. The work looked really good, so I decided to see if he could help me with my home project. We set up a time for Ken to assess the project and see what the costs would be. He gave me an estimate that sounded fair, then we scheduled a time do the job... Ken arrived on time and worked throughout the afternoon to complete the job. He was careful not to damage any of my furnishings and the finished result looks amazing. Thanks!"

Custom Home Builders questions, answered by experts

A carriage house is a freestanding building, while a townhouse is connected to other units. A townhouse is a full single-family home and typically shares a parcel of land with other connected homes. A carriage house is rarely used as the sole single-family home on a property and is most often an additional building sharing property with a traditional single-family home.

Builder-grade is one of two types of stock cabinets, whereas semi-custom designs allow homeowners some control over the color, finish, or hardware on their cabinets. Stock cabinets are sold in construction-grade and builder-grade designs. Construction-grade cabinets are usually made from inexpensive medium-density fiberboard, which is prone to moisture damage, whereas builder-grade models are a step up with higher-quality materials. Construction-grade designs are the most common type of cabinets in America.

While it’s never too early to start planning for a major home improvement project like a home addition, give yourself at least a month or two to plan and design your addition, find a contractor, and get the permits in order. For larger projects like a second-story addition that require designing with an architect, plan on three to four months of preparation.

Modular homes last an average of between 50 and 75 years, and high-quality modular homes can last for 100 years with proper maintenance. For comparison, a standard home lasts 50 to 100 years and can push to 150 or longer with good maintenance. Modular homes provide better long-term value in that they are significantly more affordable and can last almost as long, but some buyers are wary of modular home longevity, so the actual value if you sell could be lower.

An A-frame home can be cheaper to build than a traditional house, but that is not always a given. Prices can be fairly similar in some cases, depending on the location, design, and necessary site preparation. Costs for an A-frame typically run between $100 to $200 per square foot, which is comparable to the cost of a traditional home. The cost of an A-frame can come in under those numbers if you opt for a prefabricated kit.
