"Chris was my installer for my windows and doors. He single handily installed all 15 windows and 2 doors by himself kudos to him…I know he had problems removing the old windows and doors especially the back door because of previously poor installation. He got it completed in 3 days and it makes me happy to know that an honest hardworking person works for Joyce and care about their customers. We will be doing more business with them. Can’t wait for the siding to be completed."

"The door was installed in a timely manner although a week behind schedule. The person who sold me my storm door was personable, knowledgeable, and the price was competitive and fair. He brought a color brochure with lots of door styles; colors, prices, and options to choose from. The door installer (no reflection on the person who sold me the door) did not clean up after the storm door was installed, instead leaving that for me to handle. Disappointed that it was not part of what I paid for. Courtesy Home Improvements assured me he would be speaking to the door installer about this issue. I have now learned a lesson to ask if cleanup after installation is included in the overall door installation. I just assumed it would be part of the package deal and if certainly should have been. It is not the customerâ s responsibility to clean up after the installer. Courtesy Home Improvement offered to vacuum using my WetVac however I was not about to go looking for it while the man stood on my porch in the cold, so I told him Iâ d take care of cleaning up on my own. This included on either side of the door (inside porch and outside exterior on door step area.) I would use company again but not without asking all pertinent questions first. The door looks great and will stand the test of time. Company itself offers high quality products. Thank you."

Doors questions, answered by experts

A door frame is not the same as a door casing. A door frame is the framework surrounding the entire door that supports the area from which the door hangs. The frame is made up of multiple parts, including the door jamb, head, and sill.

Casing refers to the trim work located around the door frame. It connects the door frame to the wall with decorative trim.

The vast majority of hinges are symmetrical, and either side of the hinge can go on the door or the frame. Occasionally, you'll find a hinge specifically made for right or left-handed doors with different attachment hardware or larger plates on one side. In most cases, the large side of the hinge goes on the frame.

It is possible to install hinges backward, so be careful when placing them. Position the hinge so that the hinge pin faces the direction the door will swing. For example, if you're standing on the side the door will open into, the pin should be visible. Be extra careful when installing exterior doors, as placing the hinges on the outside for an outward-facing door makes your home much easier to break into.

Interior door thresholds are usually attached using finish nails, and some contractors will also use construction adhesive under the threshold to hold it in place. Exterior door thresholds are more commonly screwed to prevent them from pulling up when people step on the raised edge on the outside of the door. Exterior doors also include caulk sealant on the inside to prevent water and air from seeping through.

Steel doors last the longest, sometimes upwards of 100 years. Fiberglass comes in second, with a lifespan of 70 years. Wood doors have the lowest lifespan, with some wood types only last 20 to 40 years.

This hack required some hand strength. First, bend the fork's tines. Next, slip the pointed ends into the door latch and close the door. Open the door to remove the fork and break off the fork's handle. Reinsert the fork's head into the door latch and close the door. Finally, slide the fork's handle through the tines, creating a horizontal barrier that prevents the door from opening inward.
