"Ed and his team were excellent. They installed new siding on two gables and trim around windows, the roof line, and garage of our ranch. My husband and I love the look. The price was right compared to other estimates. They offer a variety of materials including vinyl, wood, and James Hardie siding. I forgot to include an item when getting the original estimate and they came out the next day and installed the trim right away. Would definitely use again!"

"I was impressed with how quickly the company responded to my inquiry and then how quickly they were able to come out. I had a small siding repair job that wasn't quite big enough for Worthington Construction but Marty quickly referred me to someone who came out the same day. "Super easy to work with. Matt showed up to inspect my roof after a storm that left shingles in my front yard. He did 2 emergency repairs to keep the house dry. Matt also inspected my siding and found wind damage. He also addressed the drywall damage from the leaky roof. He dried my walls and performed the necessary repairs to a state that was better than before. When it was all said and he done he worked with insurance to cover everything listed above.; a full new roof, all new siding and wall repairs inside. $45,000 in repairs and all I had to pay was my $500 deductible. CANâ T BEAT THAT!!!!"

Clapboard siding is traditionally made of wood, and is one of the most common types of wood siding in North America. When people talk about wood siding, they are usually talking about clapboard siding. However, not all wood siding is in the clapboard style: It can be tongue-and-groove, shake, and other designs. Also, clapboard siding can sometimes be made of different materials, like vinyl or fiber cement, so the terms are not interchangeable.

There should be small gaps between your roof and the walls of your home, and other buildings. These small gaps let building materials shift, expand, and contract with weather and other outside forces, and they prevent moisture from wicking down walls from roofing and gutter systems. Without these strategic gaps, your home’s exterior and its finishes can sustain water damage, decay, peel, delaminate, and crack. However, there is a fine line between a smart gap and a problematic gap—all  gaps should be small, intentional, and covered or filled in with foam insulation to prevent pests from using them as access points.

You cannot install clapboard siding on a bare, unprepared surface. Clapboard siding requires a clean, sturdy base made from plywood or similar materials, sometimes called backerboard. Then, it needs an underlayment or sheathing, a moisture membrane to help protect the exterior wall.

Note that sometimes clapboard siding is caulked as it’s installed for additional protection. We don’t suggest this: Caulking the siding can trap moisture inside the clapboards and lead to moisture damage over time. The siding needs some space to “breathe,” especially in rainy weather.
