"Ed and his team were excellent. They installed new siding on two gables and trim around windows, the roof line, and garage of our ranch. My husband and I love the look. The price was right compared to other estimates. They offer a variety of materials including vinyl, wood, and James Hardie siding. I forgot to include an item when getting the original estimate and they came out the next day and installed the trim right away. Would definitely use again!"

"Brothers ordered the wrong type of vinyl siding, I will live with that. Brothers has business cards - no Company address on cards or work orders. My cable tv, phone, internet through one cable, had to be pulled off the side of house and layed on the ground, worked fine the whole time they were installing, They pulled the cable back up off the ground, after disconnecting from box, cable tv, phone, and internet were nocked off, I had to place work order with the cable company, my tv and phone and internet was out for 4 days before the cable company could make it outto fix the problem."

Caulking should be re-applied roughly every five years. It's natural for a home to settle and separate caulking from joints, so it's a good idea to assess the home every two years. If you have stucco on the outside of your home, it’s technically considered cladding and not siding, but beyond that, it’s impossible to tell without a little digging. Without damaging the siding material, expose part of it to see if there’s an air gap between the siding and your exterior wall. If there is, you have cladding. If the siding is affixed directly to the exterior wall, you have a simple siding system.

How long siding takes to install depends on various factors, but averages seven to 14 days for a 1500 to 2000 square foot home. You may have a longer installation timeline if your house is large or architecturally complex, if you have underlying damage beneath the existing siding, or if the weather delays the installation process.

On it own, aluminum siding has a relatively low insulation value (also called R-value); aluminum siding has an R-value of 0.61. However, you can purchase insulated aluminum siding to increase the R-value to between 2 and 5. You can also install additional insulation within your walls to help maintain temperatures within your home. On average, insulation costs $1,825 to install throughout the typical home.

You cannot install clapboard siding on a bare, unprepared surface. Clapboard siding requires a clean, sturdy base made from plywood or similar materials, sometimes called backerboard. Then, it needs an underlayment or sheathing, a moisture membrane to help protect the exterior wall.

Note that sometimes clapboard siding is caulked as it’s installed for additional protection. We don’t suggest this: Caulking the siding can trap moisture inside the clapboards and lead to moisture damage over time. The siding needs some space to “breathe,” especially in rainy weather.
