"I recently had the pleasure of working with Stay Dry Waterproofing and I can confidently say that they are the best waterproofing company in town. From start to finish, their team of experts were professional, knowledgeable, and attentive to my needs. The project manager, Brock, was fantastic to work with. He took the time to thoroughly explain the waterproofing process and answered all of my questions with patience and expertise. He also provided a detailed timeline for the project, which helped me plan accordingly. The installation crew arrived on time and worked diligently to complete the project on schedule. They were respectful of my property, kept the work area clean, and were mindful of noise levels. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the quality of work and level of service provided by Stay Dry Waterproofing. My basement is now completely dry and I have peace of mind knowing that my home is protected from water damage. I highly recommend this company to anyone in need of waterproofing services. They truly deserve 5 stars!"

"We just had Jayson Wright, Service Manager, to our residence to do an inspection of our egress window and a potential water issue on one of the basement walls. Jayson did an excellent job and explained everything that we were concerned about. I fully recommend Jayson Wright and Groundworks for any and all basement issues involving waterproofing."

"Overall, we had a great experience. The waterproofing job was great and works perfectly. The only downsides to our job were: 1) they were suppose to seal off the things in our basement so they didn't get dusty - the seal job wasn't good though so we are still cleaning everything off as we have time weeks later. 2) they were supposed to cosmetically fix some cracks, but it looks sloppy. They just took a caulk gun to it... In our consultation, they had mentioned they would do this pretty, smooth coating thing, which was not done. 3) they did not clean up well. Our floors had dirt all over them when they left and I had to sweep/mop myself. While the above things were annoying, the important parts of the job (the actual waterproofing) were great and look and work perfectly. So I would still give them an A."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Topical sealers adhere to the surface of concrete to create a protective layer. In many cases, this is all you need for concrete that sees light to moderate traffic, such as your basement. Penetrating sealers, on the other hand, bond with the free lime in the top layer of concrete to form calcium silicate, which prevents liquid from passing through. This type of sealer protects the surface from water, oil, and gasoline spills.

Basements with persistent moisture problems or flooding shouldn’t be finished until the moisture issues have been fixed. In addition, if your foundation is cracked, you have unmitigated radon levels, or you have asbestos or lead pipes, remediate the underlying problem before finishing your basement. Turning a basement into living space before fixing these issues can lead to serious health risks or structural damage.

In most cases, a crawl space will not dry out on its own unless the moisture comes from an uncommon flood and isn’t expected to be a recurring issue. For most homeowners, moisture problems in the crawl space will only continue to get worse over time, so addressing the underlying problem with gutter systems or a foundation drainage system and setting up a preventative solution like a dehumidifier is necessary.

In most climates, contractors recommend closing your crawl space vents in winter. Keeping them shut protects your crawl space from freezing temperatures, pests, and cool breezes that can lead to chilly floors in your home. However, it's often best to speak with a local crawl space team about your specific design and its relationship to the winter season.

Underfloor insulation alone will not cause moisture and mold, but improper installation can. Although the purpose is to seal any drafts, your subfloor still needs ventilation. If you seal the area too tightly and prevent all airflow, this can cause moisture to get trapped. This moisture eventually leads to mold and—if your floors are wood—rotting.
