The person who answered the phone when calling was, in my book, the worst Customer Service rep for this company anyone could hire. She was vague and told me lie after lie regarding many aspects of this project. That issue has been resolved. Fortunately, Stephen took care of our issue personally and all worked out for the best! The Installation crew (Rob and his 2 Assistants) were the best! They were cordial, knowledgeable and informed us with every aspect and any changes that needed to be made. They were awesome. "We are paying on a fence that has been a 7 month project and going. Almost TEN no shows. When they have showed, sometimes they’ve worked until midnight, pounding. The most nonsense business we’ve ever experienced. Multiple mistakes, still waiting on corrections. We have to board our dog every time they say they come and we literally paid for boarding 10 times without them coming, without letting us know. We call and the girl says “I’ll contact the workers and call you back” and never does. It’s become very predictable and extremely frustrating."

In many cities, you will need a permit to install a fence, especially for a fence taller than 6 feet. Check with your local government office to determine whether you’ll need a permit before installing a fence, along with any height or location restrictions. Or, better yet, hire a fencing installation pro, who can help you secure the appropriate permits.

You should dig a trench that’s 6 to 8 inches deep so that when the silt fence stands up, it has at least 6 inches below ground. It’s important to firmly bury your silt fence into the trench you’ve dug to keep water from running underneath the fence into the pile of soil you’re containing. 

You should stain both sides of your fence to get the full benefits. Fences often fall along property lines, so you may want to save a buck by leaving your neighbor’s side in the dust. If you do that, all you get is a slightly better view. Moisture and UV rays can still sneak in through the side that’s unpainted or worn down and damage your fence. Rot and rust will spread, even if you can’t see it from your side of the lawn.
